Makes sense, we're entitled brats, but when it is something you want then you aren't? Hello pot, I'm kettle.
BUT BUT BUT.... My Immersion!!! How can I be immersed if I have wireless headphones and I want to sit on my couch and close my eyes and listen to the sounds of the game as I sit comfortably and pretend I'm actually there and talk to myself as if there are others around me but then be logged out after 30 minutes? PREPOSTEROUS!!!It made sense not to have one for Final Fantasy XI where bazaars became important. Bazaars don't exist in 14. GW2, WOW, and SWTOR have auto-kick, so it's well precedented.
I don't see the issue. It is extremely easy to log back in. If you aren't around to press a key every 25 minutes, then you aren't around to accept a duty finder invite, either, so I don't think that's a good justification.
Only made sense for FFXI not to have it is that there are few players logged in. Yesterday, I logged in and there were about 800 players logged in during NA prime time and 1,600 during JP prime time.It made sense not to have one for Final Fantasy XI where bazaars became important. Bazaars don't exist in 14. GW2, WOW, and SWTOR have auto-kick, so it's well precedented.

Being against the auto kick is 100% selfish, cant deny that. It is placing your desires, not even your needs, above what is good for the general population.feedback. Lets see so far i have been called "greedy" "Selfish" Self-entitled" and told to "kill myself." Yes, these are those stellar people that SE should be listening.
This is not a industry standard, i have never played a mmo that auto kicked you; The whole rationality behind it is kinda sad.
Even without server load implications, the game is unquestionably better off with an auto kick. You personally may not be, but if it means less times where a duty finder formation times out because of an afk dps the majority benefits.
Kill yourself is going to far, but its just a stupid expression people use these days.
You assume we're demanding something, or even just complaining about something missing/taken. I'm sure some hypocrisy is to be expected at some point in time, but generally speaking, it shouldn't be something as minor as the auto-logout. Learn to pick your battles, then every little thing might not seem so serious. Keep in mind though, there's a big difference between suggesting (which may come in the form of joking) and complaining.
Ok, where in OP is it demanding anything, but good job. When its something I want, I say I would like X, but I do not rage complain or try to justify it outside of my own personal want. I do like to defend stuff though, I support others all the time. Wanna know why I called you entitled? because when I look at both sides this is what i see
Reason for AFK Kicker:
Allow more Logins
'Save Resources
Fix error where player DC's but still gets stuck as "Connected"
Prevent excessive AFKing.
Reason not to have it:
Q for dungeons and walk away
engage in other activities leaving player AFK.
When I compared what it brings to what not having it brings... it becomes pretty apparent that outside of personal want there is no reason for the AFK kicker to be removed. so when I hear people say its not needed or should be removed. that's beyond saying i don't like it. that's essentially demanding its removal. Whether intentional or the poor choice of vocabulary. ones personal opinion is valid, but ones demands are not. So yes, Entitled and bratty.
also Eliseus, read the thread title, That is a demand. as well as the first line of the post...

Saying something has no need anymore just because one doesn't experience the problems him/herself yet others still are show how short sighted you are.The term NM - Notorious Monster, is fairly synonymous with a boss. Fates, have farm and boss - or as a lot of us old timers, who weren't lazy - still call them NM's. In fact, if you'd been playing, many of them are even the same name as their FFXI counterparts, with the same skins as well!
So, take your semantics, and politely - stick it where the sun doesn't shine.
And therein lies the rub, I have a low tolerance for idiocy. Saying something's great when there's no need for it anymore at implementation just shows how short sighted you are.
Quoted your sig for ya in hopes that you will cure yourself.
So far, responses in this thread against the issue = negative and personally attacking most the people that are quoted. See above poster for example.

In order for someone to be short-sighted, they'd have to be missing some important long-term downside. Please explain said downside.
