People only wanted it because of server congestion. With two maintenance sessions that added new worlds, a new duty finder server, expanded server capacity, and the future addition of world transfers, congestion is about to be a thing of the past, and with it will disappear the reason for everyone's rage against AFKers. It's like when people paid full price for an iPhone 4 the day before the iPhone 5 was announced and dropped the price of the 4 in half -- this would have been a great investment when the technology actually had relevance, but why the heck is this happening now?

not everyone, I didn't want that shit and yes I was one of the many that couldn't log in AT ALL several times.... I was mad, but it's not the fault of those already logged in, it's the fault of SE...period!

Some people wanted it: People who couldn't log in during the first week. That hasn't been an issue since well before this was implemented though. It's no longer needed and it shouldn't exist.

The 72 thumbs up on the OP indicate quite clearly that while many people upset over the 1017s from the first week wanted it, there are people who know it's not necessary and don't want it as well.

It really shouldn't exist at all, but it should be longer than 30 minutes as long as it does exist and there are no login problems.

If there's no issue logging in you can quite easily log back in after being logged out, if you're away for more than 30 minutes you deserve to be booted.
