I agree with the afk feature, it frees up room on the server and zones for other players to be able to log in and it also allows for more things to be rendered on screen without the game lagging out on the ps3 and low end pc's. if it bothers you too much when you go afk for extended periods an easy solution go to your inn room, buy a controller and put an elastic band around the thumb sticks so that your running around in your room. This way you gain rested bonus and you free up zones for other players without other people thinking that your a bot.

I do like the afk timer, it's a nice change to 150 some bodies standing on the summon bell or outside the MH like in FFXI. Or Uldah's 500+ standing by the steps in 1.0. I do however hope it goes to 1-2 hours. That does seem fair and yet flexible. Mostly for in the case of duty finder. Any longer and there's a good chance said person might have fallen asleep. Truthfully even a hour would suffice. I would like to rush and cook supper while knowing how far along to being ready my events are without running back and forth like my kids do when we eat supper to make sure minecraft hasn't kicked them off. A little afk isn't unreasonable but 3 days afk(sometimes longer) does seem a bit much.

Ah, but will facing north-by-northeast at 2:45 a.m. while the moon is a waning crescent result in a 27% increase in your chances to synthesize HQ mythril ingots!? That is real the question! ~Fernehalwes~

I bet there are a lot of things people do in the world that don't make sense to you. I bet it makes sense to those that do things though.

Considering that the standard MMO logs out AFK users after 10-15 minutes
I have played a lot of MMO without a afk timer. Can't actually remember the last time I played a game that had a forced timer in it.

Heck, a lot of games have AFK area where you can gain exp while afking.

Have you played any MMOs called World of Warcraft, Everquest2, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, or Lord of the Rings Online just to name a few among many? They all have AFK timeouts.

Sure have heard of them. FFXI didn't have it, neither do the vast majority of MMORPGs from Asia. I actually believe most mmorpgs comes from Asia now days, so most don't have the kicker.... I think, correct me if I'm wrong.

I like this auto-logout feature! good job on this SE, it will reduce stress on the server if people r away from keyboard.

This isn't FFXI and there's pretty much no reason to warrant removing it. FFXI at least had player run bazaars which promoted staying logged in while afk.

Also, why do people act like this is something that no MMO does ("this day and age"), when virtually every MMO does it, and with a shorter time frame?

No you haven't. I doubt you'd use more than 1 hand to count the number of MMO's that don't have an auto logout. And even if you could find 5 of them, they're probably backwater games that are terribly unpopular.
