then log back in problem solvedI think what many people are missing is that many endgame events take hours to set up, sometimes more. Communication is vital during those times. Most people are not going to stare at the screen for 2 hours while a guild raid ( or whatever ff14 endgame has in store ) gets setup. Running back to the comp to hit the space bar every 20 minutes... is fairly retarded. Also if the endgame events end up anything like ff11 ... 2 hours for group setup would be nothing. Imagine trying to organize a saturday dyna run with a 30 min logout feature.. lol
If pigs can really fly, I wouldn't care about anything else!!!
Or just move every so often. This kind of feature isn't uncommon in an mmo and it's what the forums were crying for before, you got what you wanted.
I guess people are just that obsessed with complaining or something. No doubt when any kind of extension is added or the feature is removed altogether(god forbid) there will be another topic just like this, just going on about something different.

Why, this is what the majority wanted, and I love it.

Where do you get that statistic from? Most players don't even visit the forums, then you have those of us that thought S-E wouldn't be stupid enough to put something like that in. So we never bothered posting about it.
An auto-logout feature shouldn't be used to reduce load on servers, players pay to be able to use them anytime they want. Auto logout should be used to save resources of your own computer. And should therefore be optional.
If F2P game companies with games with similar world populations don't need it, you would think a company like Square, which has a lot more monetary resources, wouldn't need it.

"players pay to be able to use them anytime they want." Yes, it's called log back into game.

while i was happy to abuse the "stay-logged-in-for-as-long-as-possible" feature while we were having server problems, i'm loving the auto-logout. i'm having zero queue when trying to log back in, which is absolutely brilliant.

I love the 30-min logout. Since the patch I had 1 3102 error; you know the bane of this game through phase 4 til the patch? waited 30 min, attempted to log in and instantly went into the queue without the error popping up. THIS IS WHY IT WAS IMPLEMENTED. No more must I or others wait 3-30 hours to return to the game.
"Welcome to the ranks of the blue mages. However, at this moment you are but an empty vessel--a base creature, weaker than the most ordinary mortal. A blue mage must wrest her strength and vitality from her enemies. Show me your hunger for unrivaled power! This is the only guidance I shall give you."
~ Final Fantasy XI Treasures of Aht Urhgan
I'm always reading people orz'ing it about the duty finder. What the heck is wrong with the duty finder? Are you guys just orz'ing because it takes like 40min+ for a DPS to get a spot or what? I for one love that thing, granted I'm a Healer, but still. . .
I am fine with the 30 minute afk timer
