No one seems to enjoy the trip

Looking through the forums and post after post about how many people want more xp, gil, and frequent rare drops I'm confused. Isn't the point of an MMO to enjoy the game, not just finish it?

I played xi from release until Jan and it seems like a lot of individuals want xiv to be like xi is now. 1 to 99 in days, easy gil, and easy to get gear. Really you want that already? I remember spending months leveling a job and days upon days hunting mobs for that specific piece of gear or the gil to buy it and I enjoying every minute of it.

Who really wants a game they can play for a year and beat the end game content? I want a game that I can play for years, curse, scream, and bash my keyboard over because there are still things I want. A game where you party to reach a goal with a CHANCE at great rewards and have fun whether you get it or not.

It's like everyone is overlooking the fun of getting to endgame. Quick endgames mean a quick loss of interest (Diablo 3...)

*shrug* I've leveled a PLD / MIN / ARM to 50, working on BLM now, but I only have an Ifrit Blade on my PLD to show for it. Haven't made any high end gear (except Armorer / Miner stuff), haven't run AK or anything (just did Ifrit HM because it's cake for a PLD) so ... I dunno. I like the journey and although I'd like to see the end game someday, I know it will always be there for me.

War doesn't determine who is right, only who is left.

Why do you care what other people are doing? Do whatever you want in game and let others do the same. If they finish everything and have nothing else to do, so be it. How does any of that affect you at all? I swear to god people are so concerned with what other people are doing when it doesn't even matter.

Forum = minority. Nothing here is constructive. Just some players who think everything is wrong in the game and how lazy they are.

Because you don't seem to notice the obvious because you even bother to say this....

People care about what other people are doing because it has a MASSIVE impact on their gameplay experience. More people rushing to 50 and grinding the endgame means less people playing other content and less people to enjoy content that isn't the endgame with. I could go on about how "What other people do" is and always will have a massive influence on you and your gameplay experience I think I don't need to go on further if you decided to do something other than lash out at a player who is noting his concern for the games community.

We are playing a MMORPG afterall it should have a strong foundation based on the community itself, "What other people do or like" matters alot.

I think the world is beautiful. I know many that are rushing through the game as quick as possible, and I'm not sure how. How do they manage to not take their time and notice the weather effects, the landscape, architecture, music or creatures? I'm having a hard time levelling because like I'm always seeing something fantastic that I want to explore.

You should be able to finish endgame content within a year, and there should be much, much more content waiting for you after. In a p2p mmo.

People today (the entitled generation) want everything an they demand it be fast free easy an god help you if you dont give it to them. They dont care about the game other than getting shinys. Try an explain to the young ones that level 1 is every bit as important as level 50 an they just start ranting at you an calling you names. I try not to play with them when I can help it because it just lends a bad atmosphere to the group.

/me waves to Amays was a fun group other night

Nice to see a proper gamers attitude in this cess pit of a forum

    I ride my chocobo everywhere.

I talk to NPC"s that aren't quest related fairly often.

I frequently get sidetracked at an amazing view. Literally. One day when walking out of the Sultana's Gate in Ul'Dah, I saw possibly the most spectacular sunset I've ever seen in a game. I stood there motionless for several minutes just taking it in.

I've not even leveled past 35 on any class but I'm considering making a third character just for a different experience.

I don't care that I likely won't hit 50 before 2.1. I don't care I'll never be fully geared and hardcore raiding. I won't be the best at anything I do in the game. But I'm enjoying myself, and having fun playing the game.

I love the journey as well. I love it so much though that all of my free time goes to it and I'm 13 levels from cap with my DRG. My ultimate goal is to work everything up to 50 and see everything there is to see. I hope that takes a long time.

More to the point about people rushing through the game. I'm not to keen on all the players I see who want to just speed run dungeons for example. What's the point. I think you only get a time bonus if someone in your party is new to the dungeon. If the party has been through it already, what's the point of speed running it? On the other hand, if you are new to the dungeon, also why speed run it? Learn the dungeon. Explore. Find the treasures. Watch the cut scenes. Don't just play in the world. Let yourself live in it while you're there.
