From what the dev's and community reps have passed along we already know that the following will happen:
-looking into a way to toggle off music
-recipes will be changed to not be as complicated
-recipe levels will be better balanced
-new instant craft for certain items (FFXI style)
-group crafting as seen in Tanaka's teaser video has basically been scrapped for now
-materia system will allow crafters to customize items.
What I would like to see is:
-remove the 3 animations per synthesis turn. Why must I pump the stove three times, saw the invisible wood three times, and tap at the metal three times per each turn in action I take. I really think this could be reduced to one animation cycle per turn and still maintain the aesthetics while slightly speeding up the process.
-The orb mini game should be changed from quality control, to reactionary response. When my friends and I first started Beta, we didn't quite understand the mini game. We thought that the color of the orb required you to choose a certain action from the list. For instance flashing meant for you to use standard, white for rapid, red for wait etc.. Shortly after we learned how very wrong we were, but I have to admit that the game was far more interesting that way than merely spamming standard. It also forced you to look at the orb to complete your task and that I feel is so very important. Right now on my server basically everyone has taken to botting their crafting duties and it has created a highly unfair advantage over those trying to play legitimately. I hope the dev team can make some change that requires looking at and directly responding to what is occurring in the craft process in order to complete it. Only expecting this when you want a ballpark shot at creating a quality item isn't enough.
-I feel like the crafting process was made overly long to allow for the use of crafting abilities and the goal of maintaining high quality. It would be a drastic change, but perhaps all abilities could be reduced to an effect of only one turn and the overall amount of turns required to complete reduced to around 3 or 4. It would make crafting a lot faster and not so redundant to me. The downside to this would be higher failure occurrence and the whole quality rating aspect of it more or less tossed out the window. I guess you can't have your cake and eat it to though.
