    SionDurant,

It is common for your destination (in this case SE's server) to time out. What you need to look at is the final hop before time outs. That will be fairly accurate as to what your ping @SE server would be.

That being said, Congentco is the biggest piece of shit ISP in the history of the world. They are notorious for routing traffic by several major ISPs (AT&T) being the most notable. Their servers have caused major issues in World of Warcraft, League of Legends, and now apparently FF14.

They offer trash service at a cheap price. As a result every ISP loves to utilize them. However, it usually results in in the issue you all are currently having. The good news, it the issues in both WoW, and LoL were eventually resolved. The bad news, it will likely take several weeks for the same to be done with FF14.

Just for the record, the issue isn't 100% in SE's control, they likely need to work with their ISP, and other ISPs to re-route traffic. Its a lot of red tape, bureaucracy BS.

    edit:
I was having some issues the past few days( they began Thurs/Fri) during "Prime time" aprox 6-10pm PST. After running several TraceRoutes and various other diagnostically relevant tests I found several servers (tinet.net) were having major fluctuations in latency as well as packet loss. After the maintenance today, traffic is no longer being routed through those servers. So there is hope for everyone dealing with CogentCo that you'll likely be next to get your issues resolved. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
