Name Your Favorite Final Fantasy & Why (Aside From ARR)

Not counting Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, name your favorite game in the entire Final Fantasy catalog, including the more obscure titles without roman numerals.

For me, it would be Final Fantasy VI released in 1994 in North America back then as Final Fantasy III for the SNES.

Playing this game at the tender age of fourteen was a watershed moment for me - from the cast of characters, to the sweeping score, to the epic plot and fun pace of the game. After nearly 20 years, FFVI still ranks up there with some of my top gaming experiences ever.

Give me Terra Branford and Kefka over Cloud and Sephiroth any day of the week. Throw in the magitek armor, the magicite, the outstanding and expansive cast (most with their own unique theme music) and the steampunk setting and you have a game that is just waiting to be remade for a modern machine. . .

And of course, who can forget Terra's beautiful haunting theme...

    Peace, love, and moogles.

Final Fantasy Tactics, I liked the dark atmosphere and setting. Ramza was also a pretty amazing main character, and all of the secret characters were fun little side quests.

    Seven.

Actually was the first one I played. Soooooooo many disks. So much adventure.

Was a really nice way to get introduced to the series.

Final Fantasy IX. Best setting, awesome characters, fantastic music, and an overtly feminine, yet still badass, villain.

Final Fantasy 9 for me , was a really good story , colorful characters , and great world all around .

To me it stood out more than any of them before it being the characters were not the norm , ff12 tried to mimic it a little with the characters but just did not pull it off !

7 would be my next up.

I love the Chrono Series as well, kinda mad that nothing has been really done with it in a long time.........other than putting them on new consoles and phones........

    Final Fantasy VI

Awesome characters with interesting personalities (Locke, Shadow, and Setzer are particular favorites), covers everything from love to loss to even mass genocide. The only one where the villain actually attains all his goals and leaves the player on their first play through feeling defeated. IIRC it has the largest cast of characters, and each manages to feel like an individual with different motivations and perspectives.

If anybody decides to do a playthrough - Edgar + Noise Blaster + Bio Blaster = profit.

I would have to say FFT is a close second though. All of my FFVI replays are always followed immediately by an FFT replay.

Final Fantasy IX is my favorite. I love the throwback to the classic era, It was the last "classic" in my opinion.

However, I never really got to experience Final Fantasy during the SNES years until after their prime, (wasn't into RPGs in those days) so for me FFVII was the magical entry into the series. It holds a special place in my heart, even if the fanboys have ruined the image of the title and it is now seen as "cliche" - nobody can deny that the game, played near release, didn't blow them away.

Another one who thinks 9 was the best here.

The artistic design, the setting, the world, the story, the drama (I'm still crying for poor Vivi :'<), everything about it was great.

Well, everything except that maybe it was a tad too easy.
