Gold Farmers

Part of the fun of FFXIV is the banter, general chat, questions, etc that spew for from certifiable mostly human players. However, I've not been in the mood to play as of late due to the 40-50 per minute gold spammer messages haunting the chat on at least Diablos, Odin, and a few other servers I have alts.

Since there is no ignore or report system built into the chat, what is Square doing to address this diminishing effect?

Stupid process to blacklist them, it's useless now since they keep on rolling in.

You can remove the old ones from blacklist since most of them do get banned eventually and they themselves will switch chars anyway. Although, the latter makes it pointless to blacklist in the first place. I've actually given up on it. It'll solve the problem for the day and then there will be new spammers the next. SE needs to figure out what to do besides just perm ban. It's only a temporary solution.

I already have 40 of those bots on the blacklist. Ridiculous. =/

I too have hit the 40 mark on my blacklist. It's ridiculous.

Blacklist them. it works, I see people complaining about RMT all the time in shout but rarely see more 1-2 a day in each city anymore.

/blist add "Full Name" click on OK

You can also click on there name>then send tell> then replace /tell with above


Also /blist add <r> to blacklist last person who sent you a tell

I still curious as to how this is supposed to work for them. Does someone actually read the wall of spam from these annoying yahoos and say to themselves, "yeah, I'll give them money..."?

Believe it or not, some people actually do. I've played mmo's for years and I've known plenty of people to buy in game currency. ARR is just starting out so there's not really a huge need to have 100k gil right away but in other games, a lot of people want to play but don't have the time to either merch or farm the money themselves. It's much easier to just buy them and get better gear and items in a fraction of the time and effort. That's why there's a market for it in the first place.

...but at the cost of losing your account, which, in future, you'll have paid real money for. It's probably not that hard for SE to spot somebody whose finances jumped from 10,000 > 100,000 gil in a fraction of a second.

And given that these gold sellers are stealing accounts to advertise their services, you have to wonder why their customers expect to be treated responsibly.
