Achievements

Are achievements saved on a per character basis or per account basis? I've not been able to find a post from SE to say which one it is. I only ask because if its per character base then there are a few which you'll never be able to achieve which doesn't make sense to me...

There are some achievements that are impossible to achieve.

How can you complete a total of 30,000 leves, 10k leves for gathering, 10k for crafting and 10k for battle?

It would take like 5000 days to get enough allowances for that, which is... 15 years playing FFXIV. Yeah, I'm good with waiting 15 years to have all the achievements in this game.

In what little testing I did, I believe achievements are per character, not account. That said, I don't know of any which can't theoretically be gotten (although some have ridiculous requirements, like the 10k leves)

On an unrelated note, I do have to say far too many of the achievements come off as lazy or uninspired. Way too many "Do [Activity] # of times" as opposed to even slightly creative achievements like "Find Hard-to-reach Locale" or "Kill [Boss] in [Unique Condition]".

Totally agree with this.

What about achievements for killing each primal naked (with no armor on), or speedrunning a dungeon in less than XX:XX time, or stuff like that. They need more variety.

Just glad they didn't take the typical route of "First X class to hit level cap." That renders 100% completion impossible for all but one person usually, though in the case of this game it'd be everyone since I doubt one person could level all classes to cap before another managed just one.

They rendered 100% impossible already, due to each starting town having an achievement for doing the quest to leave that town.

This is the one I was referring to in my OP. it seems impossible to get unless the achievement carry over to a new character. I don't want this thread to become an angry one about how SE is making it difficult for us to get them all or how it's broken. Because I believe that this game is amazing and thank the team at SE every day I play it. It was just a simple question regarding achievements being account based or character based.

And from just a quick look on a new toon I made it looks like they're character based unless there's a 24/48 hour wait time for them to roll over to new characters.

They could be nice and just merge the 3 achievements, never gonna happen though.
