Please help me.....problem with windows 8

So i bought this laptop so that i could play ffxiv with my wife. It comes in the mail yesterday and i unbox it and get super excited....i update windows and install ffxiv. I update ffxiv and log in. When it shows me the play button i click it and it goes to a small black box and says ffxiv has stopped working, please close the program and windows will tell you if a solution is available.

I have no idea what to do i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting the computer all kinds of things. Also this is an ibuypower laptop so its not a low end machine. Please help me i want to play with my wife and this is feeling like a huge waste of money if i cant play ffxiv on it.

Are you able to view any crash log data? The reason for the crash is hard to determine. It's possible that a driver on your machine is conflicting with the client (GPU, ActiveX controller, Bloatware that came with the machine i.e FANCY GUI's on ASUS machines).

Try to uninstall your GPU drivers and reload. If this doesn't correct the issue, make sure OpenGL and ActiveX are updated (you may want to uninstall and reinstall them to be safe).

If issues still persist, you may need to contact the OEM of the laptop for support.

Something looks weird with the display device. What video card do you have? It looks like some kind of integrated card.

I am playing on windows 8 with a laptop so it is not an inherent windows 8 issue. Initially windows blocked mine, so you might want to check your firewall as as well as the built-in windows one. You might also want to go into the events viewer and view critical events. Right click the lower left hand corner of the screen and it will bring up a menu where you can click events viewer. That should tell you what is failing.

I sometimes get a driver kernel error for my nvdia when playing that gives me the same 'ffxiv has stopped working' message, but it is rare enough that the game is playable.
whoops, posted after you had obviously done these things. Nvm lol.

That's what I saw as well:

Card name: Microsoft Basic Display Adapter
    Monitor Name: Generic PnP Monitor
    Driver Name:
    Driver File Version: ()

Seems like you're missing the drivers for your video card. Try downloading the drivers you're missing on your machine. You can find the list of available drivers on MSI's support page:

    http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GT60-2OD.html#overview

In my previous post, I meant ActiveX. I apologize. Was multi tasking work with typing a response. Haha
