Controller based gameplay, a suggestion

Ugh, see that's exactly the problem.

My hotbars are so full of threat tools, that I need to be accessing on .2 seconds notice, that I have to macro things together like cooldowns, so that there's enough room, even if it's impractical to macro them together. Cooldowns, that I also need on a .2 second notice.

I'll break down my bars--

L2 + Dpad
Cover
Shield Swipe
Convalescence + Cure macro'd together
Rage of Halone

L2 + ABXY
Sprint
Sentinel
Hallowed Ground
Awareness + Bulwark macro'd together

R2 + Dpad
Rampart
Shield Bash
Riot Blade
Provoke

R2 + ABXY
Flash + Circle of Scorn macro'd together
Shield Lob
Fight or Flight + Fast Blade macro'd together
Savage Blade

I could move Sprint, but don't want to for the comfort, and for the places that it's needed, it's really needed.

I could move Circle of Scorn, no denying that.

I could move Cure, however keeping Convalescence handy makes sense.

I have nowhere to put Guardian's Will. Unlike other cooldowns, it's a waste to use it beyond its specific purpose.

I have nowhere to put Spirits Within. I would macro Bloodbath from Marauder to Spirits Within.

I can stack foresight into something else, but I'd prefer to keep it separate.

Paladin tanking has two types of abilities in this game. Abilities you're using every few seconds or abilities you need in a second's notice. There's not much for "forget it" buttons.

I'm using an xbox controller for my pc and I like it so far except I wish I could go backwards through my hotbars. Why do I have to constantly go through them and not back one? Or did I just miss that?

So hitting RB I can go from my main (hotbar 1) to my secondary but instead of just going back to my main I have to go through my minion/teleporting bar and the menu bar before getting back to hotbar 1. Did I miss something?

If you hold the Right Bumper you get a cross bar with 1-8 to pick which bar you want to jump to. Not as fast as going straight back but lets you skip that last bar.

What I'd like to know is when will SE allow for keybinding other keys on a controller. I am using a Razer Sabertooth and it has 6 extra buttons I can not seem to get the game to recognize.

Yes. Press and hold RB1 and your eight face buttons now take you to the hotbar of your choice. Every hotbar you have is one button press away.

I really wish they would give us an option to use the old 1.0 setup of regular hotbars and being able to scroll with dpad. I have gotten more used to the crossbar and am making less mistakes (not no mistakes, especially under pressure). But I have had to combine crossbars with hotbars and that makes it necessary to use a mouse. I never, ever had to use a mouse before.

It was easier to organize abilities too. And I can't stand that I have to remember where I put actions on which bar for all my jobs.

Please SE! Give us option for 1.0 hotbar setup on controller!

They should add a hotbar for LT+RT (L2+R2), that way we get 8 more slots per set.

This is exactly what I've been wanting all along.

I also want to be able to opt to use the bumpers to cycle hotbars forward and back while holding triggers, instead of targeting.

Also, hotbar filtering should not reset you to the lowest allowed hotbar every time you begin or end combat; currently even if your filters are identical, drawing or sheathing your weapon boots you back to bar 1, so it's not even a remotely useful option for me; I'd like to use it to filter out bars 7 and 8 which I use for menu shortcuts and my chocobo, but then it causes problems in dungeons even if both sets of filters are limiting me to bars 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Finally, /commands need fixed so we can reassign pet actions in a summon macro like what the pet hotbar does to keep access to all of our hotbars and control our summons easily.

Uh, better organization and muscle memory works well.

I can use 32 hotkeys without looking by memory pretty well (Not that I have that many skills to use) The game definitely plays better with a 360 controller than a PS3 controller (Better analog stick setup for movement, more ergonomical, better triggers)
