Linen is possible but extremely slow for WVR's in their 40's. I have made it to 44 by doing this but even with massive HQ boosts, I can now only get about 2000xp from a single linen recipe. The problem you run into with grinding like that is the shard usage. At full speed in harvesting Lightning Shards in Thanalan since I can only use the boost once every 5-7 minutes I can only average about 3-4k shards in 6 hours. This game was designed to be more about the questing and content than the grind and this is a boring grind.

Would be nice to see Gianttoad Skins be a little easier to obtain. It is almost impossible to farm them without competetion, and the drop rate is poor to boot.

ALC is also a heavily mob drop dependent profession. There are only a few recipes that can be made from gathered components.

I am in full agreement with the OP. I try to gather HQ materials from Mobs and Gathering. It's virtually impossible because of the minimal drop rate and number of Player competing.

Also, if you do not claim the mob, or are grouped with the claimant .. you will not get craft drops. Quest credit sure but NO LOOT. Grouping is great when it is fellow crafters to share with, but botters & farmers will not group with you since they do not want to share. RMT farmers can group with each other to share with claiming bots. So .. advantage RMTs.

If competition will be kept, a person doing enough damage to get quest credit say, should also be put in the loot drops *even* if they were not grouped with the claimant. It is the only way a real player can compete with a bot/farm team. More spawns would also be good too .. but if they are few enough that RMT farmers can stay on all of them simultaneously, then fixing the "loot only goes to claimant" must change. The current system encourages the bot farmers.

I Just got to Fleece Level. . . . My soul is crying. Its nearly impossible to farm those sheep because EVERYONE ELSE IS.
I'm not sure if they are weavers, of just doing it for the MB money, but trying to get Fleece is more ridiculous than Diremite Web...

Are there any leve's that reward fleece?!

I believe what you're all missing is the fact that if more than the current mobs spawning is available is that the material value will drop, the gear value will drop, and the reason for crafting to make money will diminish.. I love when materials are highly priced, that means that the following crafts required to refine them actually produce a profit

otherwise, you end up with in the end game, the same price structure that is shown in the lower level gear, crazy low,

people selling gear that costs 10k to make for 5kg is the problem, not the price of materials, or the quantity of materials available, people need to realize that certain things take time to sell instead of spiking their prices crazy low,

I have never had a problem purchasing mats when I buy mats to make gear, because I sell gear for greater than it costs not less than

I think people are more worried about being able to level Weaver on fleece or make any fleece-required gear AT ALL than they are about the price of the finished product. And the finished product's price dropping because the material price dropped is not a problem at all.

    Yes more mobs or something.

In many crafting jobs there are times when you need 1 or more ingredients and you want to craft that item usually multiple times.

Then you go to farm what you need only to find it will only drop off of a certain mob and then in the zone there is only a total of 8-10 max, and ohh look it also happens to come from a mob used in a quest, so now you have to compete against any one doing the quest that needs the mobs or even other farmers. Don't get me wrong I understand and don't mind competition but when there are so few mobs to start with it is damn annoying especially when it happens over and over while trying to farm your materials instead of forking over the price off the market boards.

To fix you Could add more mobs that drop the current materials or could leave it the way it is but drastically increase the drop rates and drop amounts of crafting materials.

The best solution here is to add the missing shepherd gathering class that has been 'coming soon' since the original launch.

Except all that gear is already available from NPC merchants for cheap, and quests give it away, and dungeons drop the best stuff.

The only reason regular gear is selling for high prices is because a lot of the player base hasn't yet noticed that there are gear merchants in every aetheryte camp. So it won't be long until to sell gear, regular gear will have to undercut the NPC price by a large amount, and HQ gear with materia will probably only demand a small premium.
