Except that I've seen the same bots pop around Ul'dah for the last week. Sorry to anyone who might have had their account hacked because they went to a gil seller site, or chose their cat's name as their password... But If your character was hacked, you're just best off making a new character and not have to worry about the fact that half the server has probably had to blacklist you.

Cool. Hopefully this is also accompanied by an inability to shout 5x per second.

What we really need is a right click to blist and report as rmt spam. Ideally if more than a certain number of people, say 20 or 30, report the player as spamming rmt ads it should immediately add them to a global blacklist until the incident is reviewed by support staff. If their ability to derive any benefit from the activity gets suppressed in the first few seconds then they will probably stop trying. The fact is as things work now they end up spamming for hours, so they see a benefit in engaging in this activity. The concept of a global blacklist created by user input is pretty standard in email systems nowadays. Creating filters for chat isn't going to be anywhere near as reliable as relying on human beings who see the spam to recognize it for what it is.

Don't forget ps3 users, modify option already available when select name send tell and invite choices can be increased to include blacklist and report. This would save user from having to write down name when spammers continually scrolling. I don't get them idiots, if I was going to buy gil anyone that pisses me off like that would never get my business. To bad there are alot of idiots out there that use the sites.

They should really disable shout/yell before about level 20, it's not like genuine new players will be using it.

You can already do it without writing down the name. Hit the square button while their name is highlighted, and choose "send tell." Then edit it from /tell Firstname Lastname to /blist add "Firstname Lastname" and away you go.

Yes, because there aren't 3 dungeons BEFORE level 20... nope not at all. Limiting the number of shouts, or flat disabling it doesn't stop the core problem... it doesn't even limit it, because the same botters doing chat spam are just going to bot/grind a character to whatever level and then spam repeatedly once they reach that level. The best way to fix the problem is to eliminate (or close to it) the market for gold sellers to exist in the first place. Get rid of people's need (or the perceived need) to buy money from these guys and they will go away all on their own. Other games have done this successfully, so don't even begin to say it isn't possible.

They are now sending simultaneous tell/shout/say/yell and completely filling up the chat box with this nonsense. We need an easier way to report.

I definitely support a global blacklist that would ban them from using any communications after a set amount of players have reported them. Though 20~30 would be too low and I say that because there are jerks out there that would do this for fun. But just as well, the same tool may backfire and the gil sellers may get upset about it and do it to regular players out of spite. I already feel the reason they spam this much is because no one is buying their crap, well, not no one but not as much as they would hope.
