    Running out MP

I was hoping someone could offer some advice. I am a lvl 32 white mage and I am starting to run out of mp when doing dungeons. Usually at the end of a mini boss or actual boss. But it is still frustrating when I can not heal. Its only happened twice but would like advice on how to avoid this. Thanks in advance!

30-35 is a level range that does tend to struggle a bit with MP; things get a lot easier once you get Regen at 35. As you're 32 you'll have just got the Freecure trait, which is pretty important for MP management. The trick is to use Cure to do as much of your healing as you possibly can, saving Cure II for when you've either got a Freecure proc or someone needs healing up ASAP. Avoiding overcasting Medica (save it for when you're going to get a good heal off on 3-4 people with it) and Esuna (some dungeons will be throwing status everywhere, and trying to remove it all will burn through all of your MP fast. Just use it on the more critical statuses) goes a long way towards helping you save MP too. If you're still running out of MP after that, there's a good chance that your party isn't avoiding damage properly against bosses.

I'm sorry but all I have to tell u is... live with it... as said before it's a phase all WHM go trough... vl 35 regen will help (but wtill u have to use it wisely... or it will just drain your mana faster than before...) lvl 38 gives u shroud that is a mana regen.... lvl 48 enhanced shroud will make running out of mana your fault (or the dps fault if they take head on every single aoe of the fight...) lvl 50 medica II will alleviate the aoe healing mana cost much more (that skill is creazy good)... and once u start getting lvl 50 equip u wil see your mana pool and mana regen only grow while mana cost of your skill stay put... up to the point where u need to massively use aoe heal/ress in order to have to use shroud on every cd and really spam your aoe heal + ress in order to risck going OOM

also if u'r running with a summoner ask him to do the ress... he have better mana regen than yours (at that lvl) and u don't risk to get a party meber die due to lack of healing while u'r ressing someone else (THM lvl 26 freecast will also solve this promblem but still put a stress on your mana...)

tab9 summed it up pretty succinctly. You're at the awkward teenage years of White Magery. Things will get better, soon. Particularly once you hit 38 and get Shroud of Saints. In the meantime, make sure to keep some Ethers / Hi-Ethers on your hotkeys for emergencies, and get used to spending less time DDing due to MP restrictions.

The early thirties are a tough time for White Mages. They give you Cure II to waste more MP and Presence of Mind to waste it faster.

If you're struggling, a good practice is to drink a hi-ether after you've spent a little MP and then again on cooldowns. You probably have enough hi-ethers from quests to sustain this until you get the rest of your abilities. Stoneskin on the tank between fights will allow you breathing room at the start, Regen will give you opportunities to sit and recover MP rather than chaining Cures, and finally Shroud makes White Mage actually work! Plus Divine Seal allows you to counter heavier damage with cheaper heals.

Combat Raise can be a real drain on your reserves and may make fights hopeless if you have to waste too much MP on it. Even so, it is better to pick up fallen damage dealers and let them learn the fight than conserve MP while they lie in the dirt. Such groups are looking at a wipe anyway, try to maximize the educational value.

Another challenge from 30-35 is that you start encountering dungeon content with actual mechanics as opposed to glorified tank and spank fights. (Anyone else enjoy all the losses to the first boss in Qarm as people fail to understand the importance of the tiles?)

It takes players a little while to wake up from the dungeon-induced comas they find themselves in. Once people begin playing with their eyes open total incoming damage goes down.

    Hi OP,

I think Brayflox Longflops is the first dungeon that shocks the White Mage system. Things are worse if the tank is undergeared, as that may force your hand toward Cure II more than Cure.

Timing abilities like Gladiator's Rampart around the time of boss adds or heavy attacks, focus fire on the adds, and crowd control may play a large role, but this one dungeon was the "Oh shoot, Cure I may not cut it anymore" dungeon.

Yeah, I have actually been getting tanks who do not hold their attention and they attack me. Or do not get out of the way of AoE. I will say I am at fault for not using cure 1 though. When I got cure 2 thats what I have been using. Learned that I should use cure 1 specially for the free cure trait. Live and learn though right?!

Cure is not just useful for Freecure, it's a lot more MP efficient than Cure II. Cure II is about double the MP cost for around 1.5x the potency. It will really help out with your MP conservation.
