The ability to show nodes isnt a WoW basic function, it is a fuction of a UI mod players made, to record the position of nodes you mine on your map, and only after you mined them or a player shares his data with you

Im with Xenor. Seems like its a bunch of kids coming from cheap copy n paste games of eachother and come to XIV and want the same thing. I say leave this out...this game is already ridiculously easy to play. First day playing I started to remember the node locations. Gathering mats is suppose to be more of a search to find anyways. You have to search and run around the area to find the node/mat.
SUGGESTION - Difficulty Settings added to menu
Well maybe to deal with 'difficulty' levels. To cater to kids and to older players who like a challenge, they should put in more options to the menu. Add a difficulty tab where users can toggle options such as this. I personally would toggle off most mini map symbols, where you can see some other like to have more mini map symbols and symbols above the NPC head. Stuff like that should be toggled through a difficulty setting in options on a client side level. That way we all can enjoy the game to our levels...which is XIV is REALLY needing.
XIV seems to be an player base of all ages and levels of experience, so SE should start to think on a level where they can cater to all players and not just "majority" of them.

The skill is even called "Find Minerals" and it is baseline if you were a miner that shows you everything nearby on the minimap just not the world map like you are thinking.
I am sorry but all of those who say you can't track nodes on the mini map in WOW, need to go back and try again. I only played the game for three weeks, and there is an ability the game gives you, no mod, that tracks the things when you get close.
