    Minimap icons of active nodes

    I know this is gonna sound a bit "easymode" to some people

    but I really wouldnt mind seeing icons on the map showing nodes that are active within a certain distance(sorta like mob radar but with the active nodes)

    nothing too far, as to make your search abilities useless, but lets say within 20-30 meters or so, stuff thats really close.

    Thats why they have those craft abilities. Like Dowse, Gulleye, Lay of the Land, Triangulate etc. The nodes are in the same spots so they should be even easy to remember.

    you didnt read what i stated fully
    im talking about ones for close range, really close range only

    the abilities track them up to 400 yars
    im talking something that just shows on your map whats within a good 10-20 yards of you at most

    yes we read what you said, you want to turn FF14 into WoW, no thanks. It's already easy enough to find them.

    wow doesnt show them....so how is that turning it into wow(ui enhancement programs do not count)

    the point is moreso for nodes you may be passing but can not see(alot of the time the sparkle from them isnt very visible) and for those who dont yet have the ability to search(spinning the camera gets old when hunting for whats up)

    Well its true something probably needs to be done sooner or later ... and its also true many find the nodes an they're somewhat okay with it as things are, however, at the same time others players (*like beginners) would find searching for nodes at the beginning of there journey really frustrating (it all depend on the person naturally).
    Adding a few new icons as guidelines at the beginning is great and all, and so far doing so has helped many to understand the game better, and it also look a bit better too. (

    [But personally at many points for gathering I can't completely agree with op, adding more and more helper icons it doesn't quite feel right and overdoing it could be bad.]

    "We are Gatherers, We Search and Explore, and if we still can't find that material and its location (??,??) then that is okay as well because other people might know better then you do, so look toward them for guidance"; "We are Gatherers and what is a gatherer if they do not search for themselves and peal the dangers of Eorzea without fear" [*as well as looking for the mats is half the fun in it for DoL/Doh I'd say the least.]

    So whatever does happen its got to be more Unique and interesting, even more showy then the current glowing ball effects so much so that people take notice right away, and possibly when said class rank-up is high enough the icons would soon disappear giving more challenge, or and reducing the repetitiveness of it all.

    Once you've been doing a grade for a couple of ranks you learn where all the different nodes spawn anyway. Like I can go to Cedar and find the walnut or yew trees without even using my abilities because I learned where they all spawn through gathering there. That's a skill you pick up and it saves you time, why make it easy mode? Why has everything got to be easy in gaming these days?

    If I rememmber correctly, WoW's Miner can track for nodes through minimap.

    The way of current gathering point's searching in FFXIV is fine in my opinion.
    For familiar players, its easy enough to find nodes or else it's that player's problem in surrounding awareness.
    For newbie players, there's plenty of gathering guides through the internet. I hate people who complain on provider without seeing their manual book.

    But I understand your problem. If there should be tracking symbol on minimap, I suggest that it should be tiny yellow(or any color) area pop up when we use Arbor Call, Lay of the Land, Gulleye and fade out in about 5 seconds.

    It's good to make it more convenience for players but it's bad to make it too easy.
