BLM and SMN

Alright so i have never been the "caster" type of guy first character was a monk got bored of it currently 50 warr i LOVE the class nothing to complain about i thought it would play a caster for a change once in a while as im enjoying all the ingame content so far "yes even grinding" lol.

since i have a main "tank" and have no intention to give it up, i want one of the best possible dmg output for when my tank will not be needed no need to be overly fun or w/e i just want the one that hit the hardest out of the 2 caster

Long fight dps: Blm or Smn
Aoe Fights: Blm or Smn
Best burt: Blm or Smn
Scales better with end game gear: Blm or Smn

AoE/Burst Damage will definitely weigh in favor of BLM, SMN just doesn't have a lot of "Kill it now" Options... Ruin is only 80 Potency, and Dots will take too long to apply. Best bet on some AoE fights for SMN is Applying DoTs to main boss > extending via garuda > Bane... But Banes range is pretty short, and most times You'll want Ifrit for DD anyway.

Regardless, I think Long fight DPS Will favor a good SMN, especially one who utilizes all their DoTs and Fester/etc. as far as endgame scaling go, No clue Sorry

SMN dps is very good on long fights, and on movement fights, which seem to be a lot of the end game. Also if you level an arcanist, you'll have a healer also because of scholar.

Arguing with my lvl 50 healer friend ilvl60 that SMN arent trash, he keep saying they are and that he runs parses everyfight and they are always the last DPS. Is it true the whole dots dont show on parses thing ? I dont know ive seen one good SMN so far from experience people on forums say they are decent but somewhat behind and people ingame seem to hate on them in groups

From what I have been told, Parses calculates the theoretical amount of DoTs. I also think it doesn't do it for one of their DoTs...I don't know which, just what I was told by someone experimenting with it.

Also, I don't know if summons are considered part of Summoner dps on parses because Summons technically have their own aggro so damage might be considered their own but it still belongs to the summoner.

Not sure, 2 days ago i was seeing SMN most useless dps class blahblah all over the forums now im seeing SMN can parse top on boss fights etc

It's because, without the parser, everyone is pulling DPS numbers out of their bums and no one actually knows anything.

Summoners, according to the end game raiders (Coil of Bahamut etc), are the highest DPS class currently for single target fights. They currently don't have that great of on demand instant burst other than Fester (which is great but limited) and are not as strong in the AOE department as black mages but their DPS is the highest in the game, surpassing bards, black mages, monks and dragoons. Also they are great in movement fights, just keep the DoTs up.

im levelling a smn and i love it...but i cant say the same in most fates,has low istant dmg very low but i think its better at 50 with the last skills (im 47) using tank pet seems take more "point" for gold medal but maybe its just an impression
only 1 suggestion to devs...show my dot before all others!!! light green is pretty the same as white and cant see if there are more than 2 bars dots on mob...really need a fix this

Lol yeah, tracking DoTs is pretty difficult when there are a ton of debuffs on the boss but I suppose that just adds to the class' playstyle/difficulty
