I think it's actually more insulting to only undercut by 1 gil than by a higher amount. If I list something and someone undercuts me minutes later, I typically undercut by 5-10%.

I just wish quests didn't literally hand you gear on a silver platter.... I think the markets could be in a healthier state than it is now, if quests didn't drop equipment.
If quests didn't drop any sort of equipment, Crafters would be sought after for gear. But right as it stands now.. since gear is practically GIVEN to you through most quests.... crafters and gatherer's seem to get the short stick.
And since there's very little demand for supplies, people aren't seeing things sell and hence they start undercutting in order to get a sale to move product.
Which I feel in turn, starts the vicious cycle for more and more undercutting.

I usually won't undercut if I'm the only person with a stack of 99 posted. If someone has a different amount I'll post the stack of 99 for their amount, try to be nice...

I'm more baffled by the people that list stuff on the market for 1g or for what it vendors for or even less. Save yourself and potential buyers the headache and just vendor the stuff.
