Soloing Chimera in Cutter's Cry

I freaking hate that boss. I always get hit by the aoes. I'm too busy looking at the parties HP and the little pop up that announces the color comes up so fast that I always miss it, end by the time I notice it in the chat log it's too late.

A good way to avoid that while healing is to always keep targeting the chimera (to see the attack bar charging) but "soft-target" (forgive me! I know not the proper terms to use here) your allies just long enough to hit cast. Not an absolute safety, but I've found it helps.

P.S. I use a controller, which has been incredibly useful and intuitive for this kind of action. Not sure how it is via mouse.

How does the attack bar change? o:

I always have the boss targeted anyway, since I use mouse over macros.

If you read the description I believe I point out in the youtube video that when it says it in the middle of your screen he actually isn't even casting it yet. That's the heads up. You should have PLENTY of time to run to him and run out. If you also look I moved the party bars closer to the middle of my screen so I wouldn't have to look away when healing. If that still doesn't help try finding a spot near the boss that's just outside the range of his blue eyes. By the end of that solo I could tell you exactly how close I had to be to get hit by it.

I asked at the beginning of the instance if they'd let me try. The one dps knew ahead of time because I queued with him and the other two wanted to see it (If you watch the party chat in the chatlog the tank is talking to me while I'm killing the boss)

I was helping some friends through Cutters cry the first time, and of course they wipe out on the last boss and I'm the last one standing. So here I am standing in front of the boss, waiting for him to take me down... and waiting... and waiting...

The dang fairy was keeping me alive!

I could of easily solo'd that boss, but I wanted my friends to learn to do it right so, sadly, I had to unsummon my fairy and take it like a guy with glasses.
