Firestarter/Thundercloud - On up or on next cast?

Do people cancel current fire cast when Firestarter comes up? Or just cast it on the next rotation?

I find I lose something like 40% of my current fire 1 when I break it because Firestarter comes up. And I draw less threat which I take to mean that I'm loosing DPS.

On the other hand I can cast more spells as Fire 3 is free.

    Thoughts?

You cast it as soon as your current spell is done casting. Sometimes you manage to sneak in a bliz3 before you see the proc then I usually wait til I need AF and use it then.

Yea - that's what I've been doing too. I'm wondering, however, if it might be more worth it to just cancel fire when it's up so I can get a free spell in. Get a longer fire rotation. Perhaps allow more time for convert and ether cds so I can add a Flare in every fire rotation or something. Probably not, it seems.

I really just wish that BLM gained an ability at 50 to allow 2 stacks of firestarter be gained, and each time you gained a new stack the duration of the buff was reset. So you could save a FS proc sometimes for that critical burst point in fights where you need to dish out a lot of damage in a short time, while also not wasting so many FS procs due to the delay in it procing after f1 casts, but it wouldn't necessarily "buff" our damage at all, we just wouldnt waste so much of it with procs that show up midway through another f1 cast.

Yep - that would actually be a great idea. Stacking 2 would allow us to get around being punished for lag/travel time.

If I get 3 firestarter procs in a row and mess up, I'm zoning out on health bars or something else. In that case I know it's my fault - and I need to pay more attention...

However, if I get 2 procs in a row, I know I just wasted a proc because of lag/mechanics. Not good feels and there's nothing I can do D:
