Steps:
Accepted the quest to kill Ifrit Hardmode. Queued through duty finder and was able to kill the boss. Now the quest has completed but I have not gotten any follow up quests for the other hardmode encounters.

Go back to the Waking Sands and the quest for HM Garuda should be there. These quests are only to attune yourself to the hard modes. They don't actually have a "real" follow up.
