Crystal shards for crafting suggestion

Why not create a vendor to sell the crystal shards needed for the crafting classes? I would guess this is one of the ways the RMT sellers get there gil. With the amount you go through at the lower levels it is crazy the amount of time you spend collecting them vs crafting for the class itself. I know it is not meant to be "easy".

Agreed. Retainer gathering is honestly one of the best ways to go about it. This is particularly true if you have a retainer high enough to reduce the gather time and yield (60 I think). If you have multiple gathering retainers, all the more faster to build up the need. (Yet another) If you also decide to bother gathering shards yourself, you just increased the yield per hour dramatically.

It really isn't difficult, nor time consuming, to gather a mass amount of shards in a small amount of time spent actively getting them (this means seconds of effort going only the retainer route). It's just tedious... but MMORPG.

It would be more worthwhile to have your retainers bring back things you can sell and then buy shards plus put gil into your pocket.

I would prefer a way to break down clusters and crystals.

Ironically in 1.0 they had the breakdown option, which was really handy if you had one version and needed another, but sadly that disappeared in ARR.

You can get a ton of crystals from ephermal nodes. They made it so that you can grow crystal shards recently too and if you use the right kind of soil you can get 100 shards from a plant.
