You finally get to experience what Australians and New Zealanders experienced for 10+ years with western mmos.
deal with it, just like we did.

Not the first, FF11 did this. Its a game run by a Japanese company. Deal with it.
I am not agreeing with the OP but I just want to correct this and many other's comment. This is sheer ignorance.
Their NA and EU datacenter is in Montreal Canada. Their cage masters and sys admins working on this datacenter are all living in Montreal. So yes they are working nights when a maintenance like this happens.
Source: I know many of these sys admins and cage masters.
so what you're basically asking for is two different clients (like all the games do that have different maintenances)... which in turn usually also means TWO SUBSCRIPTIONS. the maintenance is not so much a server maintenance as it is also a maintenance to work on the entire game client, including uploading a patch. you really want a patch to be implemented during different times? or if that is not what you want, since it's technically possible, you want them to have the patch implemented for everyone at the same time, but have the server maintenance at different times? do you realise this would mean extra work for them? that's hardly cost-efficient and guess what? it would STILL make people upset.
that being said it's still the same data centre for both North America and Europe, and the maintenance is - for once - NOT during European peak time. in fact it's 3:30 in the night in Central Europe right now, where the majority of the European playerbase lives, and 2:30 in the UK and Portugal. so... you were saying?

Doing it by their time, deal with it. Its annoying when a game you like is in maint. when you want to be on but thats life sometimes.
I remember this one night me and some friends wanted to play some games so we loaded up Dota 2. Maintenance. We loaded up LoL. Maintenance. We loaded up WoW. Maintenance. Borderlands 2? Servers were down.
That was a very disappointing night.
They are down in the AM, it starts at 2am in europe.
You dont like the way I do my job? I dont give a damn what you like, any of you.
If you are still alive and lance slinging a few years down the road,
and lucky enough to watch your family grow as you honor your oath.
Then you'll understand..
But getting old in my guild is a privilege.
We die so innocents dont, its that simple.
Once you pick up the lance, the life you lived stops being your own.
Why is this even an issue?
The game is being patched/updated.
This is a good thing regardless of what timezone you live in- and yes, I am also in EST timezone and I couldn't care less when the patch took place so as long as it actually takes place.
It should be, you're a customer, you paid for this shit. You can complain if their services are not as your expectation.
And this is very unprofessional for a game company this big. Just saying.
I don't have any problem but it's also funny that people who don't agree make it like a big deal for them too, even though in the end it's their own benefit if SQEX listen to this complaining.
If you don't really care when they're going to do a maintenance then you don't have any reason to disagree with the OP, do you?

I live in Japan and my primary play time is during the day time hours as I am busy after 6PM.
and I have maintenance ALL DAY. get over it. do something else or go to bed early.
