What is the purpose of Dyes?

I've hit level 50, and I have now noticed that I can't use dyes on anything I've received @ 50.

The Artifact Gear, I definitely understand why it can't be dyed (although it should, as that will allow people to look different from one another)

But more importantly, I have a full set of green items from AK that aren't dyeable
The DarkLight set is not dyeable

Unique or Untradable gear can't be died.

Maybe they can introduce later on down the path some uber-dyes to be able to change colors even on (at least some of) the unique items ... For example as new Veteran rewards or seasonal / temporary items to make a bit more rare as well. Try to put it as suggestion in game or in the suggestoin forum - who knows - if it get enough support it might get implemented.

I would assume when the vanity tab is released you can use it for that.

I assume its because its the fancy end game armor, so you can't dye it.

Apparently, "unique" means that it makes you look the same as everybody else.
