Yeah, if they are already putting their own spin on the materia system, I dont see why we couldnt get a variation on the clan mark system and other mini games as well.

Of course i'd also like the clan mark system to have mini intro cutscenes for when you run into the boss (maybe the whole "you have entered an instance" system for them).

Faction NMs? That's essentially what this is. Special repeatable NMs you get via Guildleve counter that no one can camp/claim from you because you need the leve.

...so you just want more of them, possibly adding some with no faction point fee? I love the idea, but don't see anything new.

They can be different from faction NM leves. For instance, the NM can spawn in a random area each time, so that the players will have to explore to find it.

Mark Board NMs would also require no faction points to spend in order to defeat.

This please.. if it is ever implemented.

Just like the task board, they could allow for special tasks to be taken under a certain battlecraft guild. Like how they have the crafting tasks, why not give us battle ones? Though, I wouldn't go so far as to say they haven't already thought of the idea to do so. Just testing the water with crafting for now, perhaps?

I'd like them to put a unique spin on it if possible...then again now that I think of it, it does seem similar to faction leve NM fights.

I did love the marked monster thing in FF12 (the only thing I liked about that game to be honest), and was something they came so close to with that quest added in FFXI where you go out and kill all the useless NM's.

Would be great to go to a board and see:

*Today's Marked Targets for the Thanalan Region*

    > Wandering William <
    > Frustrated Freddie <
    > All Lalafell's <
    > Stray Mary <

*Finding these targets and collecting their head/horn/kill will reward you with skill points, experience, gil and city fame, along with a chance at a rare item

Please add this, would love it sooooo much! Reset them every 12 hours or so and you have yourself yet more fun to be had.

To increase the fun, the targets could be similar to Guild Leve mobs, unique for the player, and match the level they engage the monster with to keep it challenging. To go even further, the area could be marked on the map, but certain conditions need to be met to get them to show up, such as killing other mobs in it's family, using an item, crafting something, or even emotes, and finding ???'s on the floor.

    Please SE, PLEAAASSEEEE!!!

I was just wondering how would this system work in FFXIV. It just dawned on me that a similar system is already in place to a degree with faction leves... You do regular leves for points, and once you have enough points you go hunt a NM.

Not exactly the same but a similar concept.

I think we'd need a clear goal in mind for this to work properly and supplement the existing systems. We already have random NMs for specific items. And Faction NMs for sets of gear. Soon we will likely have Dungeon NMs that drop more gear.

Regular NMs are hunted primarily by the player. Faction NMs are contracted by the various factions. And Dungeons are likely to have some relation to the grand companies.

In FF12, random people contracted with the characters or hunters to kill them. We already in a sense have this kind of system through leves.

We may need to define how a Hunter board or w/e could be used along side the systems in place, so as not to waste time implementing a redundant game mechanic...

So so much potential for this. Random tangent? Why not Ishgard be the place to go for these marks? Dragon hunting parties and what not... Anyhoo back to the topic at hand...

The marks could be easier for lower ranks of course, but the huge marks, the really special ones should just be short and simple. "Such and such has been terrorizing this area, here are some clues about it on how to pop it and where it spawn, now go get it, you rewards will be worth it." and thats it. You have to find it and sleuth out how to kill it. SE isnt afraid to do some really challenging battles, and we can see hints at the system in place with fights where horns need to be broken or incapacitation of mobs of some sort.

What kind of rewards could we look for? Not epic end game gear, that's too easy. Not gil, that's too cheap. And the marks need to be dynamic enough that we don't just go out and farm them till we're all blue scaled and elmo'd up.

    Bah, I dunno...

What if the NM Hunter board used all open world NMs, and would ask you to go out and hunt each NM for points, and then would let you trade in the points for certain items/skills.

For example, Rank 1 Hunt would be all the level 25 NMs, once you kill them all your "Hunter Rank" increases, and then you unlock more skills/items and can hunt harder NMs.

I made the same suggestion. I totally agree! FF12 style marks would be AWESOME.
