It would be fun to have the level music turn off At night so you can hear the background noise. Like in Zelda OOT. youd be able to hear the wolves howlin, wind blowing thunder in the distance. plus night time would be more Creepy.

While I really like this idea, I can't see this happening in this game.
But who knows.
The music already randomly stops as part of the event.
If it also stopped during night, we wouldn't get to hear the music much at all...
...which would make some people happy, but not me.

While waiting, you can switch it off manually for the effect. I do that from time to time, depending on what mood I want from the game. And I'm telling you, hearing nothing but the environmental sounds is a rather powerful effect on the mood. So yes, I'm for the idea.
What annoys me the most is the music going back and forth between synching music and The region music when I'm grinding! Seriously, it drives me nuts when I forgot to turn off the music.
i did the same. You really see that the music was there long before someone has seen the game...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4BpKmjwqCc

Just different artist styles. Not everyone likes Uematsu's style I guess. XIV's soundtrack seems like a mix between his work for FFIX, earlier titles, and some of his Mistwalker work (Blue Dragon/Lost Odyssey).

I think the music would benifit from some layer changes. The idea is from Halo, what they did is play two tracks of music, the base music and the extra layer so that when a battle started the drums would fade in seamlessly. They could add this to the system and break every area into smaller zones and then give each zone it's own unique layer. Because the music is great for the zones but it is to repetive. This way they could keep the great music but the extra layers would give each zone it's own feel.
The Coerthas battle music IS boss battle music. It's frakin epic.
