I'm sure this isn't the first time you've been told this but if WoW is/looks 1000x better go play it. FFXIV has it's issues but I have surprisingly enjoyed myself while playing so far even thought I came in skeptical. So who are you to call anyone else stupid for playing the game.. I doubt people would notice if you just left forever.
