Strong SEDF up in this thread. I'd have to browse a radical christian forum to be able to find more crazy talk than I do here. Yes the game does need more time (a lot more time) to become playable, but that's not to say that it's okay for a company like SE to release it in the state that it was and continually show us that they don't really know what they're doing.

Because obviously you know and understand that rebuilding a combat system is a piece of cake, right? Right?

You mention Aion. Were you there at launch? Did you see all the players mass leave the game when the servers were unstable as all crap? Were you? Because I was, the game was UNPLAYABLE for me and I quit then and never went back. You mention all these other games like they are models to be upheld, they have their own issues and it's not because some of them have a following of sheep that FFXIV should be the same lukewarm package.

Who can support a community that constantly disregards any sort of improvement in favor of ridiculous "unique" features like market wards? God forbid someone mention any other successful MMO in a thread without getting jumped by the super cool secret exclusive club whose members are the VERY FEW amount of people actually enjoying this garbage. We paid $80, we have accounts to access the forums, we're going to complain. We were sold a pile of crap on a plate, and maybe some members of the community enjoy eating shit, but I would much rather have a steak. I want to see this game succeed, but my vision of this game's future don't involve the armory system, awful repetitive zones, a poorly thought out battle system, or half-assed items and content.

You all whine about people wanting to change your beloved 4.0 game even if it'll be for the better. To me it just seems selfish that you would even want to keep it in the state that it's in. It will already take a miracle to bring the population up to a decent number and you'd rather jeopardize that by having them focus on the few people who have low enough standards to enjoy this MMO and defend it from any and all criticism like its their mother? And the thing is its still the same with SE fanboys. They're so blind and can't face reality. They keep saying WoW is a bad game or they don't want this to be a wow clone. Look the thing is and i realize that you will deny it as it is your nature, WoW beats xiv in every possible way. Blizzard doesn't take a month to add a UI change. SE takes a month to add one small UI change like this for example, Mobs will now have red near there name which indicates aggro.

Look guys I want this game to succeed, but with a fanbase like the people in this thread xiv is doomed forever due to the stupidity :P of everyone who disagree's with me. Now I realize you may disagree with me, but once again your just all in denial :P don't worry though it happens to all of us. One day you'll realize that xiv for a 2011 mmo is absolutely dreadful. I mean Rift had a solid launch it started with end game and everything and its amazing. Yet XIV which has been out almost a year can't even release a mount system. If they have trouble releasing something as simple as mounts then wheres the promise they'll be able to actually add content fast enough when the actual end game comes out? Also this is why I think SE should just close xiv and start over. Make a game that looks like Aion and has beautiful terrain. Graphics don't make a game beautiful the terrain and the open world does. WoW looks 1000x better then xiv will anyday.

Anyways Like I was saying if its been 7months and the team still can't add something like mounts how do you expect them to release end game content fast enough for people to enjoy when everyone finishes it? Once again the main problem with the developers making this game was the graphics they had. They pushed it to the limit so now its hard to add new things. They got to scratch it entirely if they want any hope of reviving their name which actually died before 14, but we'll get into that matter another day.

Frist you say that rift has endgame at launch, there is absolutly no point in this for a game that takes months to get level 50, any games company wants to make profit out of a game asap, if it takes 3 months to write endgame and it they suspect it will take 3 months to to get rank 50 it doesnt take a rocket scientist to realise the logical thing to do. The problem is SE didnt realise how impatiant the western world is who for some reason wanted to do endgame at rank 1 so the logical course of action backfired.

Also 7 months is not a year, what you dont seem to understand is because they rushed the launch of the game they are rebuilding it, if the code isnt properly commented (i dont know if it is or isnt) the smallest jobs take alot of time.

Also in your post you are contradicting yourself, you say about how long it takes for content, then say because they pushed it to the limit its hard to add new things, only an idiot would not know if somthing is hard it takes longer to implement.

when I am playing on my i5 laptop, i admit my graphics card is fully loaded, but the cpu isnt, any graphics overhaul could affect my laptop, but the content that has been announced would mainly load my cpu more and make my laptop have to make more calculations which it can handle.

Everything you list as "small" fixes really arent, chocobos for example need to be implemented in the stables, thats adding code to the chocobo stables, also an npc to rent em and take gil, then programming in all zones to say where they can and cant go, and (if they want) to implement a time limit on how long you can ride them for which isnt as small as you make it look.

You constantly compare FFXIV to WoW, Rift and Aion, 2 of which have been out for years and have had time to fix any flaws also didnt WoW currently undergo a huge graphics overhaul? the only game you can compare it it to that you listed is Rift, because thats a recently launched game, it seems like these are the only mmos you have played which is why you want a hybrid of these 3 games.

Finally, you are the only person I have seen say WoW's graphics that look like they have been drawn like a 6yr old are better than ffxiv.

Basicly you do want the game to fail and you also want the final fantasy franchise to fail no matter what you say about wanting the game to succed, i could imagine if they made a WoW/Aion/Rift clone the game would fail, people that are playing now like the game but they do realise it has huge flaws, if they want to play WoW, Aion or Rift they would play those not expect FFXIV to be a hybrid of the 3 of them.

Try wrapping your head around the idea that unique and different does not equal good. When a game is fundamentally flawed, total change can indeed equal improvement. Try thinking outside the box, it won't hurt I promise.

The lore is what makes Final Fantasy a Final Fantasy game. Its easier to follow the lore in offline Final Fantasy games because the story pushes it on you. In FFXIV, its your choice to play through the story or not. In WoW, of course you're not going to sit there and read every quest, so i can see where you're anti-lore attitude comes from.

Did I once mention copying other games? I was excited for this game's release precisely because it would be something new and different, but it just so happens that these features are part of what makes the game terrible. I am not saying go back to old systems, but I am saying that the current ones need to be reworked. Even then, bringing back GOOD features from other games will not hurt this at all.
