Gil Spamming - unable to use chat channels

Ok I am quite a patient person and dont easily get angry, but boy am i fed up with Gil Spammers making the chat channel so bad it is unusable, and I mean unusable.

In New Gridania on Pheonix today this is what we were encountering, try finding a group or even being part of a community with chat like this!

I hear you say, add them to your blacklist and report them. Well look how many different ones their are, i did not log in today to spend my evening blacklisting which btw is a long ass affair having to type their names which are zooming past and reporting them!

Haha, wow, never seen it that bad. I only get one or two /tells every couple of hours if I use /shout. That seems to be how they get my name to /tell me lol.

    re

Actually if you can right click on their name as if to send them a tell, you can take the /tell and change it to /blist add "their name" (which is already there) and it will add them far easier than typing the entire name again.

Thats if you can manage to click on their names. Some are spamming so fast it's hard to click on it.

    For tells it's easy. /blist add <r>

That's exactly what it looks like on Famfrit (new server). It is highly annoying to see a screen like that every single time you zone into a different city. I really feel bad for folks who want to/need to ask questions or get information via shout or yell. And imagine how off-putting it is/will be to anyone just starting the game. Their legitimate messages get lost in the garbage tornado.

This really needs to be fixed now. In all the MMOs I've played (some at launch, others joined in progress) over the past decade, I've NEVER seen spam this bad.

Please implement R-click, B-list (and report).

Tells are easy, but I got hit with the same wall in Ul'dah. I just backtracked the menu as I could eliminating one then the next until I got them all. I wish we could legally kill them while they are standing in town. Ran into Bayardo Hunt standing there mouth moving, spamming, and an hour later, he was still there, spamming, mouth moving. It's just sad they do this and ruin it for people.

Even ask someone to take the time to mail you a list of the spammers names and go to your mailmoogle and get them. Once you get one or two added, it gets better and you get a chance to get the rest. I have like 27 or 28 people on that blist now and all are gold spammers.

Devs are looking into blist option from right clicking on the players name, but going to be careful on this one as they don't want players to blist someone by mistake. Guessing most likely it's going to be something like just adding extra check box option to confirm blist process.

Ya, the right click will be nice, but they still got to figure out how to stop it from even being needed. I like IP ban's or something. You would think (for the US atleast) selling gil/gold would be illegal. As the company is selling Copyrighted material without permission.

    Reinhart, thanks for the info.

I agree with you; I also read the explanation that they fear people will B-list the wrong person. However, I call bogus. Right now, when B-listing someone using the current, convoluted method, you get a confirmation box. If the wrong person is listed in the box, you can simply press Cancel. Secondly, if you speed-click and the wrong person somehow still ends up on your B-list, you can simply un-B-list them. It's not difficult.

Surely, the fear of B-listing someone in error can't be a true excuse for not implementing a speedier method.
