    Ifrit tanking

So, i find ifrit being the most ridiculous fight in the game. As a paladin, it's EXTREMELY boring, annoying and a unfun. Half of the time i get the stun duty, which i hate since i do NOTHING but wait for eruption to stun.
WHich is ALSO an idiotic mechanic, since stun works fine two times, then the chances for it to be resisted gets INCREDIBLY higher. And obviously, if it gets resisted i get the fault, so much fo a nice mechanic.
This is just an annoyance i personally have, just whatever went here after getting called bad from a bard that pulled hate from the warrior the fucks that i give are relatively few, but yeah.

Make ifrit immune to stun c: i would like seeying these incredibly annoying dps running their ass around in the last eruptions.

It's kind of horrible as a warrior, too, because people tend to just leave if you get two warriors. Even when they're willing to try, it's a hundred times harder and you probably wipe three times. I don't know how it is for Americans, but everyone has ~150 latency over here in Europe because the servers are in freaking Montreal and it's really fucking difficult to stun him as a warrior because you have such a tiny window of time to do it and you can't interrupt your own animations. The reason it's so good to have a paladin is that they can do it by themselves so the tank doesn't have to devote half his attention to interrupting a skill that must be interrupted, with a half second window to react in, and you can't do it if he happens to begin casting while you're in animation for another attack. I'm so glad I got my axe after ten runs and won't have to do that shit for days on end.

After doing it 50 billion times.. people want it to go smooth and as fast as possible so they're going to prefer certain jobs over others. Most people hate having no BLM/ SMN during that fight, but it's doable without them people just don't want that.

Try hard boots should not be optional but I can't fault them I suppose. But even as jaded as I am I am not going to bail until my gear is wrecked or the group as a whole decided to give up.

Welp, not everybody did it 50 billion times. People should grow a pair of balls and deal with it c:

Alternatively as i said, make him immune to stuns and enjoy the dps carnage.

Have done this fight several times last night clearing it successfully many different ways. A solution that most do not know about I posted below. WORKING strategy with my team.

When having lack of any caster dps (BLM/SMN):
    - Offtank switch to dps nails, MT just do interrupts solo and interrupts ONLY (should be fine, because tank should be so high on the threat list that no one can pull off)
    - Assign LB solo for one melee dps to a nail while other DPS focus on another nail
    - After first and second nail is dead, use LB to kill third nail
    - Finish off last nail with everyone's help.

That's fine and dandy. My deal is that doing ifrit it's boring as hell for the paladin, and stun duty it's just unreliable.

Every 3rd or 4th attack we coordinate with our interrupts so in case there's a failure we can recover an interrupt. There's a lot going on in that fight and you can be doing something else, like healing with mouseover cure macro.

Coming from another PLD (and I don't disagree with you that stunning is boring...) but if you're doing NOTHING but waiting, you could be doing a lot more. Pretty much the entire Ifrit fight is scripted...

He'll never use eruption before the 2nd Vulcan Burst (and 5-6 Incinerates) at the start. I combo at a slower pace to the main tank during that time as to not take hate. He'll then do incinerate one more time before he jumps for the charge move.

When he lands after first charge, Eruption pretty much right after he lands, then Incinerate, then Eruption again, then Incinerate again before second charge.

Then Eruption, Incinerate, Vulcan Burst, Eruption, Incinerate, Charge.

Get the picture? You can be comboing and boosting DPS between all of the phases... and if you've stunned as much as I have since the damn sword wont show up you'll start to be able to script the fight in your head. The cycle endlessly repeats after Hellfire too so you can figure out when you can DPS during the pattern and help to speed the killing up.

Believe me I don't disagree with how boring and repetitive it is... and the more tired I get, I'm prone to make dumbass mistakes like running into the charge, pressing the wrong button right before I need to stun, etc. but you can try to make it at least a bit more interesting by figuring out when it's safe to combo.

I know what you mean, but i don't have THAT much experience to know all the perfect rotation of ifrit and such, it's just...making rotation distracts me, and Eruptions are on an extremely short and punishing cast time. I do my damage and rotation, keep up circle of scorn and the dot from marauder on him all the time, especially right after an eruption since there's like 10 sec between one and the other, it helps and all but again, more the fights go on the easier it is for a shield bash to be resisted or to mistime it even by some fraction of second (happened to me that i stunned halfway through, my friends noticed that too, yet the spell went off anyways) it's gonna be deadly as hell cuz it's a stupid mechanic.
