In game newspaper - Tribune Style.

I know the thread is a few days old, but want to 'bump' it anyhow. I love the idea, particularly as it would keep those who don't regularly check the Lodestone (I was horrified to find some people didn't even know it existed, the things happening within the game must be a massive shock to some *laughs*) in the loop, and being able to use it for ads and such would also be great.

Coming home from a day out adventuring to (hopefully) some kind of house, flip open your letter box...bill...bill...ever increasing adventurers guild fees...bill....newspaper with headline "Garleans on Offensive in Twelveswood!". I don't know which my character would be more worried about!

I love any and all suggestions that build a greater community yet tie in to more overarching things within the game. It is an MMO - a perfect platform for all these great ideas and to make you feel just a little more part of the world.

League of Legends does this. They have a weekly newspaper that's really fun to read. +1 Like from me

Indeed. Even further features could be added this way...crosswords and other minigames that give minor rewards once completed, having a hunter section where they list changes of monsters in certain areas, outbreaks (just imagine a marmot outbreak! Like 50 marmots clustered and with insane fast respawn, but only during the time between newspapers...if its weekly, then the outbreeak would last 1 week only)...even NMs being sighted this way...like you having a note like "A giant dragon was seen flying around the Nail" (for curiosity purposes, the Nail is the name of a mountain in Coerthas, near Camp Dragonhead) would trigger a NM that would be there for a week only. This NM could just roam around all Eorzea so the only way of tracking them would be by buying the newspaper or luck.

After seeing the new company update i got the feeling we will have a tribune! ^^ Hopefully an ingame version will start over time! ^^

Since its already said the Raven is from Gridania, we could even end having it physically there so you can go in and pay a subscription of the tabloid...would be very nice! ^^

Agreed! I saw this and was very excited, and it looks like the other two cities have their own as well. Good stuff.

Putting this in game would really be exciting, for those who don't check the lodestone they could get their game news in game, with all kinds of fun info. Perhaps add a little magic to the newspaper and allow it to do some fun things, add a buff to a random player, or something like that.
