PLD vs WAR Popularity: The results are in

Servers polled: NA new servers. I didn't poll legacy servers because they had over 1000 hits, and results are capped at 1000 hits. Also I didn't poll EU nor JP servers because I thought NA was sufficient. Results were obtained via Lodestone search.

Highlights:
Total PLDs = 10,491 (63% of the Total Tank Population)
Total WARs = 6,193 (37%)

Across all servers players prefer PLDs to WARs in a ratio roughly 2:1. Why is this? I find warriors more fun to play (this is subjective, yes).

Possible reasons:

• PLDs are easier to play as a class (faceroll tanking ftw). A bad PLD, thus, is better than a bad WAR, and players feel safer playing it. Or players don't want the extra work of tanking a WAR.
• Players have noticed that PLDs are the better tanking class due to its stronger mechanics and CDs.
• Players were attracted to the shiny PLD artifact armor. Or thought a *real* tank needs sword & board.

I'm leaning towards #2: PLDs are the stronger tanking class. Discuss.

Im playing warrior, and as far as i got. I tank without real troubles or issues, can handle 3 enemies at the same time without getting pawned and can interrupt spike damage thanks to stun from time to time.
Also i use inner beast after spike damage to make it easier for the healer.
At stone viligil last boss, no one dodged and got killed by breath attacks. The dragon had low hp and i could finish it off alone. Mainly thanks to inner beast+berserk+bloodlust wich instant healed me almost full hp and the decent damage warriors have.
Thats my view point on warrior thus far, use your skills smartly and you can tank just fine.
Paladins....i dont know havent used one yet.

Yes i had....a bad day that time. Had 2 parties on wich DPS just wouldnt avoid whirlwinds or activate cannons....that sucked. Never going back to stone vilgil now LOL

Warriors = hard mode tanking but are so badass with the self heals. Paladins = easy mode tanking with damage mitigation. So you want to have a easy mode or a hard mode. That why I'm warrior screw the easy mode.

Paladin is a much better tank at the moment. Also a lot easier to play, but I don't think that has very much influence on the demographics.
