My role in a FATE is to support my party, and my party only. It is not my fault if someone else's party rushed into a FATE and got themselves killed while knowing they didn't have someone to heal/raise them.

The same thing applies to the folks using /shout to beg for a raise. Don't get in over your head if you have no party heal/raise you because I am not travelling halfway across the map to raise yet another person who won't even say a simple TY after being healed/raised.

Many will overlook this last part, but if I do come across someone nearby who needs a raise or heal and is not in a FATE, I will help them out. Otherwise, byoh.

On Boss FATEs it's pretty easy to target the personn tanking and to heal him, even without of your party, so there is no reason why a healer in a FATE group wouldn't do that.
For large scale battle FATEs or boss fights with large AOEs, people outside of FATE group will get no heal.

Healer should heal, but after leveling CNJ 10-15 I understood how chaotic it was to heal people outside of your party.

I've tried healing through the Svara fate a few times and have never gotten a gold. People take plenty of damage so it's not overhealing. Also, being a SCH, we don't really create a lot of hate with our shield/heals. There are a bunch of issues with healing too, like there isn't a way to tab target through PCs, my fairy can't heal people not in my group, aoe heals only hit my group (which could be fixed with a Rift like raid system for rifts), etc. Now if I go in there and simply dps, I get gold every time. If I could get gold by just healing then I'd definitely do that, but I see no reason to spend time at a fate to get next to nothing. I'll just rez everyone after the fate is over, and there's usually quite a few dead people after Svara and the other big Ogre fate thing in the same zone.

Overhealing gives you the same amount of enmity as healing actual hp deficits.

I'm...not sure that's true. Or rather, while I'm 100% sure it's true for Medica and Medica II, it doesn't appear to be true for Cure or Cure II.

Fellow DPS, please ensure you have a healer in your party.

Perhaps this is SE's nudge towards us having parties for fighting enemies in the open world, like times of old?

...I don't think it's even because it's my duty as job, cause I change to a job that can raise if I'm on botanist or so. I't more like lending a hand when needed if you can. ...

What usually happens to me is, I change from BTN to WHM, and just as the skill cooldown is about to expire, the person I was about to raise decides to port back home. This happens about 8/10 even if I say something in chat, unless the person shouts for a raise themselves. I suppose I should /tell instead...

Well the fact is, we all do Fates for exp and some for GC seals. But sadly playing a healer roll only does not yeild enough exp. I have healed the entire Svara(sp) Dragon fight and finsihed with a gold of like 1200 exp. And it was a LONG fight too. If i would have just used stone II i would have recieved atleast a silver. Don't blame anyone but SE for this mess. It's not our job to babysit others while all the melees and tanks get high exp and we get nothing but a few thanks. I do tend to keep whoever is tanking alive atleast during fates, but mostly i try to do damage to get decent exp rewards.

Bring back NM's SE these fates are only good for 1 thing, grinding lvl's. I don't blame whm's and sch's for not healing these fates are just a big cluster and they get screwed if they aren't doing damage.
