Except he did. He didn't say he played the AH and made money off of other players solely. Fun things like gathering and crafting leves were also in there as well as vendoring.. so guess what: money was infused into the economy by doing that.

Then I figure you'll say: "Aha! But he had to slave for hours to do that! I shouldn't have to slave away for pennies to play the parts of the game I like! That's dumb!" well, I'm with him: It's not my fault you don't like to play 7/8ths of your potential character. Do the work, earn the gil and get in the dungeons/fates when you can. You don't like it? Well good news for you: next maintenance apparently sees the cost of dark matter go down. You're still going to need to work, but apparently not as hard. Lazy babies.
