    im aware this is an old post but i have completed rank 1 for the hunt list but when i go to get a promotion from the grand company it is telling my that i have not completed rank 1 which i have. Any Ideas?

    You automatically unlock rank 2 upon completing rank 1 in the hunting log.

    For that grand company promotion it would be about your rank in the grand company, it sounds like you are just getting the hunting log and the grand company ranks confused. Check your hunting log book it should just of updated automatically and you should see what the first mob is for rank 2.
