Transfering items and gil without a mailbox or trading

This is another issue that could be easily resolved. They could even keep using that ugly blue UI they have for all I care, I just want a means to exchnge things between toons.

Good news, I have discovered a temporary solution to our limited inventory problem and it's very simple, you'll wonder why you haven't thought about it before.

It involves making another character and getting two retainers for that other character. But Dyne, how can I transfer to that other character on the same pc without asking a friend to hold the items for you while I switch? The answer is simple, The Ghetto Mail Box Method!

Step 1: summon all your retainers next to each other, and make sure your characters are on the same spot (very important) before you log out on either one.

Step 2: put the items you want to transfer for sale for a cheap price like 1 gil or put it up really high as long as your other character can afford it.

Step 3: log out and log in to your other character and buy the items asap because if you put up your item for 1 gil or really cheap, there is a good chance someone will steal it. You do lose some gil to taxes, but you can transfer 10-20 items at once and not everyone has a trustworthy friend with the space to hold your items.

To transfer gil, say one million gil, just put up a garbage item for 1 million gil and have your other character buy it for that price.

There you go, 300-2100 more inventory space, depending how many characters you made. Just remember, it's all free for now, but you may have to delete your other characters when they start charging and you don't want to pay a higher monthly fee.

I do the same thing, but instead of putting my valued items up for one gil I put them up for higher than market price. I only lose a small amount of gil to taxes, and this way I don't lose my items to someone else.

I used to ask my boyfriend for help, but I feel bad asking him to help me move so many things. I find this way to be easiest right now, and don't mind the small tax. Gil is plentiful anyways.

I agree, this is a bit of a silly "solution." Sure, it works, but what's to stop someone from entering the market wards right as you log off and buying your Crab Bow +3 for 1 gil?

The item u just put on a retainer usually do not appear in the search option for a few minutes. I tried it before putting an item for sell than doing a search for the same item and none appeared on the list.

If you're poor like me, putting things up for more than market price can get expensive =( If you're lucky enough to have 2 PC's that can run FFXIV and you own 2 credit cards (to create your guys on completely separate accounts) you could have both characters online at once and all your problems are solved :P

SE should fix it for us...you'd think its in their best interests to do so since more people will pay for alts if they can easily trade back and forth.

if you already have items on your alt character there is an easier method. i only put bulk items on my alt such as stacks of wood/cotton bolls/nuggets. if you already have a stack on your alt and want to transfer more then just put the item up as a search for a stack of them for one gil. if someone wants to sell you a stack for 1 gil while signing into your alt then so be it you got free mats almost. this way you are searching for a stack of iron nuggets for 1 gil instead of selling it in wards for 1 gil.

the way you suggested worked well pre search patch, but it is very risky to do that now. i stopped doing it after i lost a full stack of toad skins.

What are they going to do with all the Characters and retainers when SE starts charging? Pay extra 3 $ for each extra Char and 1 $ for every retainer?? If SE doesn't give you the option to get the remaining 8 Retainers before they start Billing and you want to keep your items on your other characters that's going to be an exspensive first moth's bill.
Ya i know people have been doing this and thats great. As for me i'm going to stick with one Character and the two retainers till i can get a couple more.

i will be keeping mine as i only have 1 character. i had heard rumor for 1$ a month per retainer and if that's the case i'd get 3 or 3 retainers and keep my alt and be set to go.
