Transfering items and gil without a mailbox or trading

Good news, I have discovered a temporary solution to our limited inventory problem and it's very simple, you'll wonder why you haven't thought about it before.

It involves making another character and getting two retainers for that other character. But Dyne, how can I transfer to that other character on the same pc without asking a friend to hold the items for you while I switch? The answer is simple, The Ghetto Mail Box Method!

Step 1: summon all your retainers next to each other, and make sure your characters are on the same spot (very important) before you log out on either one.

Step 2: put the items you want to transfer for sale for a cheap price like 1 gil or put it up really high as long as your other character can afford it.

Step 3: log out and log in to your other character and buy the items asap because if you put up your item for 1 gil or really cheap, there is a good chance someone will steal it. You do lose some gil to taxes, but you can transfer 10-20 items at once and not everyone has a trustworthy friend with the space to hold your items.

To transfer gil, say one million gil, just put up a garbage item for 1 million gil and have your other character buy it for that price.

There you go, 300-2100 more inventory space, depending how many characters you made. Just remember, it's all free for now, but you may have to delete your other characters when they start charging and you don't want to pay a higher monthly fee.

its not an accept solution and tbh a better way would be: Ask for a buddy key lol then you can just trade around freely without selling or risking anything. Just have to do the "delivery" part yourself.

I agree, this is a bit of a silly "solution." Sure, it works, but what's to stop someone from entering the market wards right as you log off and buying your Crab Bow +3 for 1 gil?

I used to do this constantly and it worked to perfection *but* like everyone else mentioned, its not safe...I lost a good piece of gear in the process (at that time it could have been considered "priceless" since I didn't know any crafters and couldn't make it myself). But yea, if you're hard up for a way to transfer items its one of your only options. Trading with a friend obviously works but the limit of 4 items per trade will test their patience depending on how much you are trying to transfer ^^

The more people do this, the more you will have people 'camping' the wards for awesome stuff...

Of course, if you do it in Gridania, you should be ok.

its pretty simple if you do a reversal, buy a worthless item from the toon you want to have the uber item for a whole lot of gil, then put the item you want that toon to have for sale for all that gil the other toon now has.
