xp chain parties are no different than fate grinding , 8 man grinding mindless mobs over and over doesnt look more fun than roaming 8 manI've heard that exp chain parties versus higher level mobs is better than Fates. Unfortunately it isn't a well known way of leveling since not many know about it yet. I wish someone would make a guide on those types of parties to get the word out. I am sick and tired of grinding Fates.
in fates u fight bosses or have to click things from time to time :/
You dont want that to happen as there are way to few mobs out there and the respawn timer is way to long to make it worth if there are multiple parties farming at one spot.I've heard that exp chain parties versus higher level mobs is better than Fates. Honestly, I fate grind to go up a level or two if I'm under leveled for the story quests. Although on gathering Fates, it is a nice way to gain exp fast on your subclasses.
I don't mind fates in and of themselves. However, I do mind is the crazy zerg rush most zones and fates have dissolved into. If you plan on grinding, you literally cannot alt+tab or close the map because by the time you realize a fate is in progress and decide to make your way over to it, chances are it'll almost be over the time you arrive. I wouldn't really mind if there were comparable options for leveling, but theres really only leves and instances. Leves are limited and don't provide as much XP as fates. And unless you're a tank or a healer, you might as well be doing fates because you'll be waiting forever to get into a queue.
Here you thought they would've learned and didnt go back to the grinding staple of Eastern MMO's. Yes, were back to the good ol grinding, even on the main class you run out of quests and have to do it. I guess you can do leves or dungeons aswell but they are even slower progress.
This wont go away because its the only good way to level secondary classes. It needs a redesign.
FATEs are not fun due to the zerg factor. Half the time, if one pops up on the far side of a map it is down before you can reach it. If one pops near you, it's down in a matter of moments. The lack of any skill whatsoever makes it mindless, and if you are unlucky enough to be a DoM then you get maybe 1-2 spells off before it is done. Oh well, at least we have the option of party grinding, oh wait...
Common Sense is a language most misunderstood on the continent of the MMOForum
I believe FATEs were meant for doing while you walk around the field questing or exploring.
It's not SE's fault people decide to actually lvl up by spamming it or waiting for it to pop. Though it is kind of their fault for making it so rewarding lol, but I suppose the rewards are so high because they didn't expect players to actually party and grind on them, but maybe I'm wrong...
wrong , its SE fault , remember that quests arent repeatable.I believe FATEs were meant for doing while you walk around the field questing or exploring.

go level another class to 50 and tell me how it goes w/o touching a fate ....remember that u get a 50% exp boost when fighting mobs and *gasp* FATE xp
dungeons? low xp ,and as dps long queues.
leves? limited and wasted as dow/dom, imho better used on DOL/DOH
grinding /yawn
Fate = 50% xp bonus
so waiting on DF pop up (as dps 1h+) , 6 leves and done (3 years to lvl) or grind fates with 50% bonus.
I agree with the OP and no there isn't a lot of other things to do either, think of it.
I like questing and instances more than fates.
Just moving to new zones having something to read and kill is for me enjoyable.
I would prefer it to be a bit more dynamic and original but sadly SE didn't went for that.
When I started with my WHM I ran out of quests before being able to move to the next zone in some cases.
That was just one job, if I change job I'm out of quests.
Which leaves me to this
A: Fate zerg
B: Levequests
C: Instance runs.
D: Grind mobs
A: I really don't like it, yes it's the best exp when you join a group.
But there is zero thought behind it.
B: Only got a certain amount and usually they quests repeat them selves, it does get boring after a while doing exactly the same quests.
Another thing is you rather keep them for crafting and gathering.
C: DD queue is pretty long so not very valid to farm, as healer it is al right but running the same place a lot gets dull.
D: Mobs give very little exp
The game just lacks quests and areas in general for the amount of jobs it provides.
An option would be resetting quests when you change job.
Other wise there isn't much to do than well fate grind.
Fates could be fun if they would split people in a different instance, made them more challenging and automaticly group players imo.
But the zergfest is just terrible, 50-60 people spamming AOE is just bad game design.
Yes people chose this however.
- You make this the most rewarding
- There aren't many alternatives
- You didn't design it well.
