You would instantly be on the top of the threat table yes. However, bear in mind that if your BLM directly casts a second high damaging skill, which outdamages your next threat gain.... you're screwed.

Which is why Semont is correct in saying the best moment to use Provoke is when you have Rage of Halone combo'd ready. It's very difficult for any DD to pull aggro off of Provoke+Halone.

And before you start it again, this is obviously in the case of the DD taking aggro from you in the first place. If you have aggro, you don't use Provoke.

I think Provoke is perfect the way it is. It's amazing when you have 0 enmity on a target and you need to get it off your ally immediately, but it still takes skill to use because you have to follow it up with more threat. A forced target for X seconds thing is far too easy-mode in my opinion.

Simple question: is it me, or does Provoke seem to work better when you're not on top of the aggro chart? I've tried using it when I had aggro, and the gap between me and number 2 barely nudges, but if I'm second and someone else has aggro, the gauge jumps straight up for me. Is there any truth to this, or is it my imagination?

Provoke does nothing when you're on top of agro list. It's only used when you want to get on even ground with someone else that's top of the list.

All in all it's a bit lackluster now as the +1 agro it gives over the top is pretty much nothing. They should have went with making you a forced target for X seconds along with equaling out your threat, that would give you some time to build up on it.

As many have stated, Provoke is a "Taunt" a mechanic I'm sure many people are familiar with which what it does is it takes the highest Enmity and outs you ontop of them. Outside of switching main aggro targets (Tank Swaps) and taking aggro immediately off someone with high Enmity it has no use.
