    Music

Hey all, don't usually post in these forums. Just an observer but just wanted to mention this.

The music provided by the FFXIV team saddens me, I remember when I used to enter a battle playing FFXI and you would KNOW you were in battle and would FEEL the excitement. I'm sure SE has enough on their plate right now. But I think if they were to redo battle music, quest music, etc.. it would make the game so much livelier, fun and exciting. I think the game will benefit greatly.

    For example:

Anybody else feel the same way? (Apologies if someone mentioned it in a previous thread) Do you think its possible to implement such changes?

I really like the tracks in game so far (battle ones included) and i think Uematsu made a very good work here, sincerely.

Sorry, I don't agree. I think the music in XIV is pretty good. To me the battle tracks are well done, well except the Behest battle music.

I fully agree with the OP. Uematsu hasn't provided the same quality of work we can see in FFXI. Pretty music doesn't mean fitting music. I play with the BGM completely off, as i prefer the game's SFX sounds to its boring tracks.

Unfortunately, OP, it's already pretty unexpected Uematsu went out of his way to actually make music for this game. Expecting him to redo it is unrealistic, even though Uematsu himself expressed the desire to change many of the game's tracks, as he was forced to compose them without even seeing the game once.

I also agree with the OP, the tracks are too poppy and to authentic, it doesn't have a gamey feel to it and the melodies sometimes become a bit to much for themselfs.

I much prefer XI's sound track over XIV.

Uematsu barely had anything to do with XI's music, aside from the base game. Everything else was Naoshi Mizuta.
Unfortunately, Nobuo was rushed on the music much like near everything else in this game. A lot of the time he was simply given a single image to work with.

    I very much doubt this will be addressed - it's completely down to personal preference - but I must say I'm in agreement with the OP. ^_^;

The zone tracks in XIV in particular are too short, yet the battle themes have three movements or some such nonsense, despite battles rarely lasting over two minutes! haha

It also bothers me that when I engage something in, say, La Noscea, overblown electric guitar is shoved into my hearing holes; it's completely incongruous with the preceding zone music. The battle music in Coerthas being the delicious exception. :3

I suppose what bothers me most though is that - unlike XI - there's no common thread to the music in XIV, which means that it doesn't enhance the game world, but clashes with it instead.

I've always been a fan of Uematsu's music, but I think his talent lies in writing music for CSs/pre-defined scenes rather than a dynamic MMO world.

I still stand by what I said, I think the music is good, but the arrangement(rock music) just turns some people off. Also some of the music is pretty short for the huge areas, so people end up hearing the same theme for hours.

Rock music for battles is a classic uematsu style since old FFs. But i know it's only a matter of tastes in the end.

Most of the music is good.. but I have to agree that not all of it just makes it that far..

Anyways, you'll probably agree with me in this topic..: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...dtrack-manager
