Yes? How would it not be, whether it has its own class or not?

after updating your post; I can agree with you on the concept that late game there really doesn't seem to be much of an advantage to having high level crafting. I believe that there should be as you mentioned some type of tier/grade system just one below what you can get in dungeons, and to make it rather challenging/high cost to make. This would at the very least give players more options in obtaining gear.

As far as making money from it early on - you can do that; I've bought items on the market board crafted by others, and I've sold items I have personally crafted. Some times you don't get something from dungeons and really need an upgrade, some times you just don't like the current gear your wearing and want something which isn't available through quests, or maybe you've already completed that quest and are leveling up another job.

Right now at the current moment, a lot of people are leveling up their very first character and haven't moved on to a second one. So to them they are getting all this gear and thinking "why would I ever need to buy gear from some one else?", but the moment those quests are gone so is the gear you would get from it, and that's where crafted gear from your self or others come into play, and that's when we'll really see the market boom.

I know this is going into a different direction from your topic, but it needs to be said because people will complain about Gil any way - this game is still well into its infancy, and people who are complaining about Gil don't realize that the market isn't supposed to boom immediately, they aren't supposed to be capped out in millions of gil. If any one played WoW they would know that even well into the first year or so of WoW, an average played didn't earn their first gold piece until they were like level 20 or 30 depending on play, that many people who hit 60 were just now getting their normal mount, and that the original 750 for the mount and 250 for the skill were a pipe dream for most. Now, today though, people literally throw away 1k gold like it was nothing - but if you had that much back during Vanilla days you were pretty rich.

Point is, the same thing will happen with this game. So long as people continue to play, continue to do leves, fates, level up new characters, etc. Gil will be pumped into the players wallet, and once quests run dry they have no option but to run dungeons or buy it off the market board, and the market board is way way easier, which will further pump money into the hands of players and economy.
