Its not allways the Dps, also the tanks are prettynoften just bad.

i very often see tanks who pull, concentrate on the aggro they have on their mob marked with an 1, and in the meanwhile my aggro meter switch from green to yellow, to orange and then red, while keeping the life of the tank up.

i cant count how many times i told the tank to rotate through the mobs, after they build some aggro on their primary target.

sometimes i need to switch to stoneshielding the tank 3-4 times in a row, because they dont build aggro fast enough.

    Its not allways the dps.

i for myself wait to like 70% of tank health, then start with regen. after this its cure1 all the way, untill i get an cure2 proc. since overhealing produce aggro, its to be avoided.

if an tank then loose aggro to me its ( in my eyes) his fault.

but i also had very amazing tanks, who were able to pull 2 groups at once while i had to spam cure 2 for awhile and they still didnt loose aggro.

I've gotten to where if someone other than my healer pulls aggro and then runs AWAY from me instead of to me, I sit there and watch them die before picking the mob back up. I'm not chasing you all over the arena trying to catch you.

How I start off pulls is marking on the run, I pop fight or flight and bloodbath, shield lob, spirits within, fast blade, circle of scorn, savage blade, haldorne rage, flash. if they are pulling off you after that opener you might want to compare gear and such. a tank can effectively have insta aggro ....what we dont get in this game that wow player are used to si snap aggro, mobs take time to turn around and come back. it was the same mechanic in ffxi 1 point difference in gear here make a big deal if you are losing aggro look at your weapon possibly

If DDs get killed, it is their own fault. If you see they are screwing up, ignore the enemy and let them die. Make them listen.

    Edit:

The same goes for the healer. He has a sleep spell for a purpose.

Overall, people just don't know how to play this game yet.

He doesn't mind us conducting trials so close to his bazaar, so long as he's properly compensated... Yes, Portus, we pay him in sorcery-blasted bird flesh. - Cocobygo

Here are my 3 rules to tanking.

    1. Never pull with regen. If the healer tosses it on you.. right click the icon to take It off and pull. Be sure to vocalize to the healer why you don't want regen at the pull. Don't expect them to know.

    2. If the DD wont kill mobs in the order you have them marked, let them tank. After a couple deaths they will figure it out or leave.

    3. WE are the leaders of the group and WE set the pace. If someone else wants to set the pace then tell them to roll a tank and boogie on to another insta-queue.

Most importantly though. Be vocal at the start of any dungeon and set expectations. If no one can follow through on these couple of things then move on to another group. Its as simple as that.

    1. SE needs to add Tranquil Heart effect to healers, it nerfed what I did in ffxi (power leveling) but would really help here.
    2. DPS need to learn that they critcial, they spike up the hate list. Doing several crits in a row, a tank can't pull it off you as easily. (key word, as easily)
    3. Don't bash your tanks. Lowering their morale only puts you back in the duty finder. They will find someone who can take your place, DPS you are replaceable and a dime a dozen. but I'd gladly take on that knows to balance their enmity with mine (it's ENMITY not threat)
    4. SE should have some kind of explanation for how the Enmity system is handled by icons or gauges
    5. Do we have any food to help increase enmity? Use to be what we needed to hold hate in ffxi.
    6. Not enough party setups to actually learn team work and jobs.

    7. we bash wow players cause this game takes alot from FFXI. Even FFXI players who played WoW could contest to that. There's more then just "Doing your job" as dps. "but star, you can't expect the dps to not do their job and do damage" did I say you couldn't do damage? your job includes doing damage and making sure you're not over doing it to peel it off your tank. Over do it, and you pay the price, Death sends his regards, healers sigh wishing the dps would listen to me, so they didn't die from trying to heal you last moment. it's a vicious cycle, we'll get it if we get more party aligned content. Fates are just not cutting the learning curve for our jobs.

I had a longer rant then this but 1000 character limit per post kind of put a nerf on me wanting to go full steam on my complaints. I hope we can all learn how to work things without having to explain it every time.. hmm 99 macros, you think 50 of them are meant to spam explanations to your party so they know what to do? and hope they got party readable? since gilsellers are making us filter a lot of our channels. Anyways I'm loving pld, and would appreciate you dps not ragging your tanks when everyone is responsible for hate being taken away. Balance in all things and all that.

Just for velious and (especially) luclin boss fights? A very small subset of combat in that game. Even still, it didn't trivialize aggro control? DPS couldn't ever go all out. The onus was on the DPS to not screw up and flip the mob or it could wipe out the entire melee crew. Thats what is so astounding about dps in this game. They have an aggro meter, two in fact. They even come in colors like homeland security threat levels. Yet they still can't figure it out. What made the recent tanking so easy is that you were given tools that if you pressed the button, aggro was locked. I would definitely say EQ tanking was harder, but it was a shared responsibility. WoW changed that in peoples minds.
