    MPK and griefing

Hasn't SE learned anything from FFXI? Having aoe from mobs hit anyone even if they were not engaged in the fight is a bad thing. I'm witnessing people kiting mobs that do aoe to nearby crafters or lowbies who might be afk in an attempt to interrupt their crafting or kill them. I lost HQ mats when I changed to my leatherworker to make some leather I farmed when some inconsiderate player yanked a giant frog next to me and it used its aoe and broke my synth. The same player tried it again after I farmed another skin and began crafting. This is griefing and shouldn't be part of the game mechanics.

I know the obvious answer is to move to where there's no mobs so I don't get hit by aoe, but if after I've crafted I've lost a bunch of mats it's time consuming if I have to travel far to the nearest sanctuary and back to farm more materials. I shouldn't have to escape to a sanctuary to avoid some (insert random insulting name here) kiting his mob next to me to grief me.

Which begs the question... Why are you crafting around mobs? :x
Not to say I disagree, but if you give people an opportunity to be a dick, they'll often take it.

Does remind me of one of the funniest moments I've had in this game, though. Beating on Vanguards, one charges an attack that's only a simple straight line in front of it... Lower player comes running by on a chocobo at the absolute worst moment, and POW. XD It was such a small window to get hit in.

Actually Mazi I wasn't near monsters, I was in an area that was monster free until he kited one all the way up to me.

And while we're on this subject what about fishers who have no other choice but to fish on banks or bridges that have mobs nearby and are facing constant harrassment of players pulling mobs up to them whilst they're trying to mind their own business and getting interrupted by the aoe?

Monsters leash after a certain point so clearly you were in monster territory. Every single zone has an Aethernet reasonably close by so there is no reason to not just Tele to craft then walk back.

Pray tell me, why should I have to spend my gil using teleports to a nearby aethernet just to avoid some (insert random insulting name here) grief me when crafting? I shouldn't have to. And also read up about fishing, sometimes there's no choice of where to fish.

They have a stealth ability that stops monsters seeing them.
If a player is able to pull a mob to you before it gets leashed, then you're crafting in a stupid place and it isn't considered "monster free".

I have fond memories of enemies using AOE's towards farmers. I remember coming across what i thought was a bunch of bots farming around Copperbell mines for hours. I came up with a fool proof plan to discover if they were bots. I shouted, i telled, if still no answer i blew their house down with a bomb blast to the face. (See what i did there?) >: ) After that they lay there helpless until their bot commander comes along to investigate his lack of income.

This is not as amusing as when i said "Man i love Behemoth" at Revenants toll and half the people teleported out around me...two guesses why. lol I just like the Behemoth server now that i am having less issues. Or perhaps even when i click follow on newbies and tell "010010110010". I just want to say hello in 0's and 1's and for some reason they all think i am trying to hack them it is disheartening. -.-

So you think it's ok for an innocent crafter who's been farming hard for a few skins and goes to a spot that's quiet to craft them in case they might lose some and have to farm more, to have some nearby griefer deliberately kite monsters to their spot in order to deliberately interrupt their crafting and attempt at murdering them because they find it fun? This would not have been allowed in FFXI, in fact it wasn't allowed after several people voiced their disapproval of monster aoe being used to deliberately grief and kill other players. Perhaps in a few more weeks time we'll hear plenty more of these complaints from other frustrated players who've had enough of people being like (insert random insulting name here) to them, and maybe after it's been done to you a few times yourself you'll approve of the motion to remove the aoe from hitting other people who aren't involved in the battle as I do not find it necessary, it only serves to grief and mpk.

A word of advice from one avid crafter to another. I don't have any problem with you crafting at a nice location in fact i do it myself. Do what i do and procure a lot of the mats you will need in vast abundance and go craft at the hermits hovel in La Nosca. It is nice, secluded, peaceful, has a nice hot bath and a nice little shack with a table to cosy up in. Lets also mention the really nice view and the shrill screams of that Lallafel from time to time when the Coerls chase him which is amusing. If you craft in the shack or at the end of the bridge no monsters will bother you. It seems to be one of the forgotten beauties of the game and you should encounter little to no trouble from people. : )
