Because if the two data-centers aren't synched correctly, that is, use the exact same configurations, then login issues akin to the error 90000 into an unresolvable 3102 due to your character being lost in limbo can happen. That's because despite the game-world servers being separate there is only one login server (Because that enables NA players to play in JP servers).

So yes, they need to enter maintenance mode at the same time.

Actually talking to my partner last night we kinda figured there are no servers in North America just a data center with the hard line to their servers in Japan. So shutting it down during their business hours is the only thing that makes sense. They should really be a little clearer understanding that we backlash at the mention of what others perceive as minutia...we take our gaming seriously! :-)

Thanks for posting this here Camate. I'm not very bothered by having maintenance during NA prime time. Remember all those 90000 and 3102 posts people made right after the last maintenance? I didn't have a single error since I logged on hours after the maintenance had ended and things calmed down some. We might not get to play during prime time for one night but at least we aren't suckers that have to deal with errors right after maintenance ends.

I don't agree with the whole adding new worlds thing. Fact of the matter is, I'd like to play this game with my friends, and If we all can't make a character on the same server due to the restrictions, then balls.

Are the AFK kick timers still in this week?
"With that said, we have also noticed that many players are leaving their characters idle in game due to the login restrictions we have set in place to maintain server stability. In response to requests to address this issue, we are working to implement a feature that will automatically log out characters that are idle for a prolonged period of time.

The above improvements are scheduled to be implemented next week. We will make an announcement at the beginning of next week with further details."

Is that actually still needed? personally I have been able to log in with no problems at all since the whole maintenance thing on my server Odin sure I get in queue but that's pretty much negligible 5 mins top or something.

Have no idea how it is on other server's tho. But Odin was as well plagues with the same issues.

My 2 Cents
- stop gil spammers pls
- add afk kicks after 15-30 min idle ... they should logout in the inn since no server login issues atm
- maintence when you need to to keep things going.... ignore selfish people becasue others are correct... this is a JP business so JP server makes sense (JP were always kind in XI but wowtards make NA look bad...sorry friends)
- repair costs a bit high for economy and need to be reconsidered
- teleport while a luxery is a lil high depending on location but then again... in xi people paid 500-1500 per tele and then rode chocobo 4 zones over... so tele is fine as is
- character transfer needs to be free as a courtesy to all players for 1 time only for 1 week only. reason is that servers had major issues on launch and a good company understands that there are preexisting families and friends and forcing a pay transfer so close to launch after everything that went on is rather rude.

- Rest seems good as is right now.... though fate spawn rate was drasticly decreased... it forces the trolls and powerlevelers to actually be involved in the game, community and story.... so keep fate timer as is




(anyone who complains about level speed isnt playing the game...they are just earning achievements and are not priority customers....XI took 6-12 months for people to get 1-70-75 the first time...pls dont mess it up like when cap was raise to 99...this game while only 50 capped atm... is still faster...too fast in my personal opinion... but time will tell when the cap is raised this spring) ... In the mean time keep up the great work! and if you could... add plenty of events to keep the legacy players who are all 50 capped happy .... may i suggest adding some gathering chain quests for jewelry? that can add about 2-3 months of time for many of the leets

Me and the rest of Asian and oceanic players always got our maintenance on our primetime in WoW. We sucked it up cos we knew its an American based company. Square is a Japanese based company, maybe its time our NA friends learn to do the same ^_^

here the difference the majority should win if they have more players in Jap then fine if they have more here than they should at least attempt to adjust. Its only a day not on weekends I agree its not the end of the world but what we are saying here is each time they will affect us and not them and thats cool? I work for a bank myself we have had Asian prog firm work for us in the past they work the hours we tell them to with a smile because we pay them VERY well I have never heard a complaint about it all Asian I have had the privilege to work with has had tremendous work ethics lets not pretend like the workers don't want to work certain hours the company is not asking them.

Why they are not I do not know but the reason that they are Jap is not valid. My bank is Canadien yet we send out communication in several languages that we ourselve dont speak when our customer ask for it because we have a lot of client that are from China for example we don't say hey we are Canadien if you don't like it move back to china or do business elsewhere thats not how a professional company behaves. We do maintenance as well and despite the fact that our IT people are in the Vancouver office the majority of our business clients run on eastern time for us so we do our maintenance off their prime time because they are the majority not on pacific because the office happens to be located there. So if SE tells me hey listen 80% of our money comes from the Asian clients then ok I get it but if as I suspect they make most of their money from the American/Europe clients then they are simply not behave in a professional normal manner as a company.
