    Dragoon: Jump tips and you

Jump returns you to the location you used it. This is very useful and very harmful. For instance if you use it during a high movement fight you could get caught in a bind... or save yourself. Because it returns you to the location you cast it, it ignores being pushed away *Example the Demon Door in Amdapor. Using jump right before repel stops you from every moving backwards. Now Jump also has the bad effects you might not think about. If your jump would land you during that frame of the animation where you hit the target and jump back while it is casting an aoe in that area.. it hits you. Now remember jumps low cd of 40s and use it to stay in place or to aid some extra dps in a safe spot.

edit*Why it has a 1k character limit to post is beyond me but hey I have two posts so I can edit those as stuff comes up!

Spineshatter drive doesn't return you to your place and has a longer cooldown of 90s. It however stuns and moves you to the target. This being said it will move you to the target and put you down on the closest edge of the boss ring near you. It locks you in place for a about a second leaving you open for hits. This sort of move should only be used to jump at adds as it has far too long a cd to add to damage. The stun also helps if it is a burst add or hurts if it is a long term tank add.. however most adds are for bursting.
Dragonfire drive does an aoe and hits the hardest out of all these jumps. That means if you for some reason are going to use it, power surge it if power surge is off cd. Dragonfire drive is best for moving to a group of adds that ALREADY have a tank on them. Don't want to jump to your death. *Garuda feathers phase one are lovely for this
Elusive jump is the odd one in the park but very useful. Not only does it drop hate by a lot it also remove bind and heavy(slow effects) while placing you 15 yalms(yards) backwards. This can be used to get rid of slow while moving away from an aoe or simply to just dodge an aoe. Like all the jumps it can be dangerous, you need to think about what is behind you, and what you are gonna land on or in. Using it to dodge a point blank aoe and then dragonfire diving back in is a great way to keep dps up while staying alive. Trying to use Elusive jump to aim yourself behind a pillar in Garuda is not... That is not the idea behind it. A good example I can think of right now is the Final Boss of Amdapor. When he targets you with the next orb creation(purple lighting laser attached to you), you can run over to the side and turn around to jump after you see the orb placed. Not only will you prevent the orb from doing that normal one damage tick on your but get back to helping kill an add or the boss faster. Long story short, once you feel comfortable with the distance it jumps backwards, use it to avoid aoes.
Reason I wished to post this information is because I see a lot of dragoons jumping and getting killed for it or just ignoring jump all together. It has its uses and is very good in certain places. Knock back effects are one of the biggest dps drops for melee, having jump able to prevent that fully helps a lot. Not to mention saving yourself from needing to be healed or having the slow needed to be removed from you by dodging aoes. Hope this helps people when thinking about how jump can work for you in fights!

Power surge > Life Surge Dragonfire Dive, BooM should do some serious AOE dmg.

I completely forgot about Doing Elusive Jump when Slowed/Bound >.<

As Kevhyn stated, Power Surge doesn't affect Dragonfire Dive.

Power Surge: "Increases the damage dealt by one Jump or Spineshatter Dive by 50% for 10s."

Good that you felt like sharing some knowledge, bad that you didn't confirm the accuracy of it before doing so.
