May I suggest that additional quest lines be added and only unlocked when you start your 2nd (3rd, 4th, etc.) job. This would give added backstory/lore/etc. and needed quest exp to level the added job(s) without getting into a boring grind. Admittedly it DOES mean additional work for writers and devs, but if Yoshi's goal of having FFXIV last for 10 years, they WILL be needed to keep people busy and exploring.

End-game content cannot do it all. There needs to be a way to keep those that want to keep adding jobs busy without getting them bored. Yoshi and the devs would be smart not to ignore the lower levels while adding end-game content.

FFXIV seems to be based on multiple swings through the lower levels and keeping them fresh with new and surprising new content and quests would do much in making FFXIV different from other MMOs that just concentrate on adding end-game content.

Sure, everyone's experienced those situations where you reach a FATE and it's over immediately. Fortunately, FATES are frequent at all level ranges, and seriously, a few AOEs to grab some attention makes for an easy gold. Missed one? Another spawns in a few seconds/minutes. Yes it takes some paying attention to your minimap, but the ability to jump in and out of this activity with some quick gains certainly constitutes "at your own pace" gameplay.

And there you go - doing all these would open up options for leveling without even having to add more content.
I've been wanting all of the above to happen, myself. Apart from the lower levels, I never saw a need to partake in leves, or non-GC hunting logs.

I can already tell, you're going to LOVE leveling a second class.

I would adore this. I honestly can't stand the mind-numbing monotony of repeating the same few leves over and over - or the same few FATEs over and over. It's barely better than just flat out grinding mobs. Yes, quests are technically a "grind" as well, but they are a far more well-hidden grind than leves and FATEs.

Anyone else think this might be a workable solution to the dearth of quests?

And considering that a good many of us are not here because we think we have to be, that love will commonly translate not as forcing ourselves to grind like its our purpose in life, but rather, departure.

Its like the old saying with a twist. If you want to love an mmo but it just doesn't deserve it, leave it. If it does the things that would bring you back, it might be a keeper. If it won't, never look back; there was no future there for you no matter how ferverent your hopes were otherwise.
