I don't really get why you think leveling should take al ot of "effort." You realize that once you make it to 50, as things on stones currently stand, you are look at AT LEST 35-40 hours of dungeon grinding to gear up your class enough to even consider doing Titan or B. Coil. Also, what you learn about tanking at GLD 20 will have little or nothing to do with tanking at 50.

Questing is fun, and often entertaining lore-wise. I enjoy reading the stories while I pewpew. I'm frustrated that there is a strong quest drought around 42-45. My only combat non-50 is ACN, and I don't really want to fate grind. Its just not fun for me. And I have about as much use for GC seals as I do termites.

As a side note, its frustrating that it is dangerous to be on an off class while in DF given the fact that it can often take more than 45 seconds to get out of combat flagged.

Do some dungeons as well OP. Use 40-50 window as a head start to getting tomes of philosophy , doing dungeons is also good practice to getting better with gameplay mechanics.

    Quality not quantity

I'd like to extend the suggestion by asking for more quality, not just more quantity.

I just logged out in utter boredom during a chain of 9 'quests' (so far) that went like this:

    Talk to x
    Talk to a
    Talk to x
    Talk to b,c,d
    Talk to x
Talk to e (and get an object)
    Talk to x
    Show object to f
    Talk to x

...that's the point at which I gave up.

    It should have been:

    Talk to x
Talk to e (and get an object)
    Show object to f

My feeling is that there are actually too many quests, or, at least, too many pointless steps disguised as individual quests. If more quests are to be added, get some imagination on the team and stop padding!

I think most people are missing the point of why we don't like grinding: It's as boring as watching paint dry.

Then some people will ask, "what's the difference between grinding quests and grinding FATEs?" Quests can be done at your own pace and don't require a whole group to get some XP from. In most of the zones where you get quests, the XP gain is good and consistent. It's just that the main problem is that there's not enough quests. You might be doing some quests for a couple of hours, getting a good amount of XP, but eventually there's a point at which you can't get any more quests for your level. You see the red-exclamation mark floating above a quest giver's head, and the dreaded feeling of knowing you have to start the xp grind again sets in. This started happening to me a little before level 30, so since then I've ALWAYS had to grind FATEs or dungeons in order level up. And I have done most of the sidequests.

I have a LOT more to say but there's the 1000 character limit.

FATEs can also be done at your own pace. You don't have to do every one, and to be honest, your contribution doesn't have to amount to much to get great exp. You also don't need a party to FATE farm.

Perhaps I'd be more open to questing if the quests, as has been mentioned before, weren't as shallow and boring as they are. It is just another grind with a change of scenery, and most of them have you doing menial tasks that aren't even befitting of the heroes we're supposed to be. They're even immersion-breaking, if you care about that kind of thing -- how do you gain strength from talking to someone, or setting a table, or delivering a package? I at least feel like I'm doing something, what with all my armor and weapons and stuff while I'm FATE farming, but with these typical fetch quests, it's hard to care.

All this complaining just because some like to do quests and some don't, What about people who want more of both like me. Quests add something more interesting to do for some and fates add xp grinding for the people who like it, All we want is more nuff said.

It only took me about 6 hours of Fate Grinding to get my 2nd job from 1-20. SE basically gave everyone their first job to 50, by just doing the Main Storyline Quest and the easy boring side quests around it. And now they want more easy quest for their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th etc jobs? Yea how about just add a Quest that give Exp just by clicking on it.....................

That is not at all true. FATEs cannot be done at your own pace.

    1) They spawn on timers you don't control
    2) They end on timers you don't control
    3) When you're in a zone with FATE parties, and you're not in one, it's nearly impossible to get credit because the FATE will be over too soon or your contribution won't be high enough, etc.

What I would like to see most is
    1) Increased dungeon exp to bring it more in line to FATE grinding
    2) Increased leve exp, and increase the number of allowances gained
    3) Add way more mobs to the hunting log.

And there you go - doing all these would open up options for leveling without even having to add more content.

Good job, you did the absolute easiest level range in the game in SIX HOURS. You have proven nothing.

No one here is asking for free exp. They are asking for CONTENT that would allow them to PROGRESS in a game that is about progression, without requiring them to perform a mindnumbing task that they don't enjoy (kudos to you if you do enjoy it - YOU ARE NOT EVERYONE).

And yet another troll not reading the thread and just jumping to conclusions while trying to act high and mighty.

More quest =/= wanting levels handed out.

We (or at least I) just want to have the option for more quests so I can go at my own pace to get to cap instead of just traveling around a map in a mindless pack grinding fates...
