Hi BR! I knew you were still with us - I ran past you while you were crafting in Gridania a few days ago. I was like "OMG! That's BelgianRofl!" ^-^
While I (somewhat) enjoy the crafting in this game, I agree that it needs to be more dynamic. Something akin to the speed and interactiveness of EQ2's system would be wonderful. We need crafting that involves more than simply risk management - give us a more involved system that has a minimum of six choices for a given turn, and only a few seconds to make a choice. Roughly half the classes in the game are DoH - they need to be a major part, and their content should be as dynamic and fun as combat.
It can be done - EQ2 and Vanguard both have amazing crafting systems. However, I don't want SE to simply copy one of those - I want to see them make the current system better than either of those.
I wouldn't mind changes to the crafting system to make it more fun! I would be against changes that make crafting like Aion where you can set a stack, go to bed, and wake up a higher level.
*sighs wistfully* If only.....![]()
Its pretty ridiculous that although this is really sad, it is nothing but truth.Whenever someone walks in on me playing FFXIV, and let's say I'm Crafting or Gathering, and this person starts watching the screen, I get this feeling of judgement. They're looking at the screen watching me select synthesis options and watching the incredibly slow and uninteresting animations on repeat. I become embarrassed knowing that they may be thinking, "This guy sits in a chair doing this in is free time?"
To spare myself the embarrassment, I normally time my crafting for when my girlfriend jumps in the shower. When she's done, I'd then switch to something else as to avoid judgement.I have never touched crafting myself for more than 30 minutes total because of this...
Yep, crafting in FF is both good and bad. The good is that they put time into the recipes. It's not just go get an ore, get a dragon heart, take it to the forge, AND WHAM YOU HAVE A MYTHIC SWORD!!!!!1 The recipes are well thought out, but the good really ends there. Crafting is horrifically slow, other than hasty hand, but SE decided to nerf your SP if you "Dare" to use that ability. It's not well designed, as when you rank up you don't actually get better at crafting it just lets you do higher rank recipes. I mean you kind of get better, but you can still fail recipes that are below your rank which is terrible. They need to speed it up, there is no reason that if I am 15-40 ranks higher than a recipe, that I am not getting 40-60% progess increases on a single standard synth. Capping it at 20% just slows down the whole process. And get rid of Rapid synth, since it's worthless. Or FIX it.

Nah brah...you got it wrong.
1) who cares what someone thinks about you
2) who cares what you do with your free time as long as its on your free time
3) Just say "gaming isn't all that bad hun.. I could be out screwing another women right now"
4) 3 was a joke...don't say that
5) If someone decides they don't like the game and not play it...good. We definitely do not need more whiners and complainers and trolls.
6) Put them in their place and be like "bi**h..I said BI**H...who the f**k are you to judge anyone?!"
7) No reason to be embarrassed when playing a game. If your hobby or your free time spent doing something isn't up to their 'standards' or 'expectations' they can go suck a d**k.
