I do agree it's extremely boring ._. So is gathering, SO IS THE BATTLE SYSTEM THOUGH <______<
Thi. Crafting is in no way a seious main class. It is boring. But thats just the experience in itself not trying to.compare it to other mmo. They need an overhaul to make it something worthwhile. In the meantime ill stick to doing it here and there and just log out and do something else when I get sick of it five mins later.
I would be okay with dropping the crafting to a secondary skill and replacing the main classes with batle classes but it still wouldnt solve the problems crafting currently has. Any accomplishment it currently gives is killed by the fact that I can simply buy the items in the market with the rediculous amount of gil I obtain from the game. Im not bashing SE I trust they will pull it through. Would be nice to see a letter about their specific plans for it though.

You can;t really just buy everything, +1s are pricey at higher levels, +2s and 3s can go up to 20mill. Full glad set +3 would cost you around 70-80mill

Nq crap is cheap, but it was in FFXI and most other mmos as well.

another troll versus troll hunters thread...

the crafting is pretty boring and very vague. it is also hard coded into the game play experience, meaning you should be able to make your own stuff, but the vanillaness of crafting prevents me from wanting to do it. even if you do like crafting, it could be better, admit it.

You can have a different opinion but it is wrong in the end.
I didnt imagine all the crafter I know who have quit out of frustration of the crafting system. I did not imagine the three potential customers SE lost because of the crafting system.

I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!

They're looking at the screen watching me select synthesis options and watching the incredibly slow and uninteresting animations on repeat. I become embarrassed knowing that they may be thinking, "This guy sits in a chair doing this in is free time?"

To spare myself the embarrassment, I normally time my crafting for when my girlfriend jumps in the shower. When she's done, I'd then switch to something else as to avoid judgement.

The truth of the matter is, FFXIV was originally intended to be a pay to play game. With Gathering and Crafting classes intended to be as center-stage as any battle class, I'd say Tanaka was out of his mind to think that people would pay to play the Crafting and Gathering mini-games.

I think an incredible solution to solving the problem of player-embarrassment and FFXIV's lackluster profits, the Crafting and Gathering games need to be spiced up. The mini games should be visual puzzles that induce thought and strategy - a different puzzle for each kind of tool used. This way each job feels different from the next.

Also, because of the emphasis on crafting and gathering, it shouldn't take longer to level a craft to 50 than a normal job - remember, the ultimate goal is to create a game that people want to pay a monthly subscription to play.

Or... another solution is to totally deemphasize crafting. Remove the mini-game altogether. Make each synthesis pass or fail, and focus on the battle system instead - making it one where players wouldn't mind spending a good portion of their free time for years to come.

Square-Enix's Net worth has dropped 33.0808081% since September 27th. You want to make money? If you want people to rebuild Square-Enix's net worth, and if you want Crafting & Gathering classes to be as upfront and important as any other class, they need to be fun and awesome.

As it stands now, I challenge any of the developers to level a craft or gathering skill to rank 30 in their free time.

    Warm regards,

The only thing wrong.. other than everything.. with this post is the mentioning of a girlfriend. I have about... 5-6 different things I want to say to this, but surely 4-5 of those would get me banned as well. Let's just go with 'unlikely scenario' here.

    Go away now.

I guess I am imagining the tons of people in town crafting all over... for something everyone despises so much there is sure a lot of people doing it.

Square would lose more people over changing the craft then keeping it the same.... And all those customers quit because of lack of content, who the crap quits a mmo because the crafting is not instant. well besides the people who do not like mmos to begin with.

I think a major problem is that you can choose crafting or DoL jobs as your starting class. A new player could see Goldsmith and think hey, that sounds classy and rich, let's do this! But with crafting being so convoluted and painstaking, that player's image will quickly be destroyed. If they have the motivation to try another class (that is if they can figure out how), maybe they'll play a little longer. Same goes for DoL. Honestly, these should be removed from the character creation, especially once the battle system is revamped to be more enjoyable.

So in the grand scheme of things you think of the hundreds of thousands of people who quit the game you truely do not believe there were a larger number who quit the game because of the crappy crafting system than the TOTAL 20-30k players left playing? I think you might be shocked how wrong you most likely are.
